Hey guys! I just came across this thread i've had my 06 Z for about a year and a half... i never took it to the dealer for an oil change... since i have had bad experiences with dealerships. Anyways i have had Signal Auto do my maintanence, i am using Neo Synthetic...and i think i have oil consumption problems, but i'm still not really sure. I do have black tail pipes but a reason for that can be, that im running test pipes... so i guess the only way to check is to keep an eye on my oil... but the main question i had for you guys is this.
Since i have not been getting my Z serviced by Nissan, will i still be eligable for OC problems and possibly a new motor? Or will they just bring up the fact that i have never had my car serviced by them?

If you have records from Signal Auto, that should be fine. It will mention date and mileage of each oil change. My dealership accepted records from other places.

I just picked up my new V2...

Part # 10102-AC7MA

Engine feels smoother than my V1...and they automatically gave me a 5yr/60,000 mile warranty on the engine.

see sig.

Based on the part number, I am pretty sure this is a V1, not a V2. That is the same part number I got yesterday.

Did they give you 5 years/60K from yesterday, or date of sale? Because 5 year/60K is the normal 350Z drivetrain warranty.

I'll have to check on that to be sure, but he said "on the new engine".

Why didn't they give me the V2, wtf...

As long as you have a working revup dude, dont even fret about the V-2. I have seen many revups here without oil issues that have modded already its nice to just have a working motor.

That is the same engine I got. Dealer said it is the same as the V2. The NNA rep who was there that day told them that the part number ending in Z is the same as the oem except the piston rings come from a new vendor.

Default Stats on V2 replacements along with some V1 replacements

Updated list from the best I can get from previous pages. Some folks have not been back to update, therefore I posted a "no update as of 10/12/07"

I also posted some folks that recently received a replacement V1 engine; it will be interesting to see if the same original engine replacement fixes their OC issue. Guys with V1 engines: I hope it fixes the OC issue, if not its attempt #2 for NNA to repair the same issue. If it does not fix it, go BBB right away, you may want to not mess with a third engine and just go for the buy back. You could probably count the 2 OC testing's on the original engine as attempt # 1 & 2, then attempt #3 is your replacement V1. BBB would better advice on that though. Food for thought.

Guys, I really hope it fixes the OC, so you can start enjoying the Z again.

I just picked up mine on Thursday evening. My replacement engine was part # 10102-AC7MZ. I also had them replace the stock clutch with the JWT clutch and flywheel.
First impression: I love my car again.

I haven't taken it past 4000 rpm and I only put 20 miles on it since Thursday but it feels like when it was new. I don't know if any of you guys experienced this but my exhaust note has changed, it now sounds very throaty and almost growls. My car is bone stock (except for the new clutch and flywheel).
I would definitely recommend getting the clutch replaced while they're replacing the engine. The dealership only charged me for a 1/2 hour labor. I'll continue to update the thread with my impressions and any abnormalities in the next few weeks.

Angry Long Block Installed - Still Uses Oil!

My dealer installed a new long block about 2 months ago. My 06 350 Z is still burning about 2 quarts every 3000 miles. Unfortunately the dealer, who was good to work with, is going out of business. Now what do I do???? I am ready to see an attorney.

go to another dealer. All of your previous work is filed with NNA and any dealer should be able to pull your information up. If that doesn't work contact the BBB: you don't need a lawyer yet.
I would contact NNA before you go to any dealer and explain your problems and your intentions to take it in to another dealer. They will assign you a case number and you can have that in hand when you go see the dealer.

OK I will give that a serious effort. I really love my car and it is my daily driver. We do have an 05 Altima as well and it does not use oil...it is a 2.5. We are thinking of trading the 05 Altima as it has 55,000 on it...but I am not so sure it will be a Nissan unless they handle this issue. I have purchased 4 new Nissans in a row.

Congrats on the V2, I also noticed a new growl from the exhaust, must be the added compression we had lost with the OC issue. Mine feels a lot quicker especially in the low to mid range. Keep us posted so we can update the list.

With the V1 I could tell when I was getting low from the lack of oil pressure.
