Perhaps I could own that with ZeeForces approval in helping him. I'll respectfully ask for his approval. (yes that was flamage and that member knows who they are

Thanks, everyone else, for the continued info on oil consumption - keep it up.

Ignore list.....BRILLIANT!! lol. Forgot about that feature. Know a couple I'm doing now
Rev-Up retard timing from the factory....this was a major issue when boosted with turbo or SC..I am sure with a few bolts ons...its causes issues also. Especially since this oil or lack there of happens when downshifting.
So if you are at 6,000 rpm and downshifting with a retarded (lol) timing and no oil...BOMB just like my stock block did! Thread called NA go BOMB....almost a year ago.
great insight...keep it coming.

edit delayed screen double post....
its a fact....the rev ups suck at high rpm point blank....My boy had detonation with his greddy TTs and they thought it was bad gas...after reviewing "the logs" as you mention..there it was. I will not get into who found it and why (because this thread would shut down after the comments) but its true..the stock ecu retards at higher RPM I want to say after 6K but cant remember exactly. I am writing two papers for school but I will get some more info for you all.
Its seems as if you have access to a dyno faster than I...check it out. I will ask a few shops for some tune date to back up my claims....
They advanced the timing to squeeze out the measly ponies....everyone knows the VQ's run lean as shizzil uptop..hence the retarding....give me until tomorrow. Good luck all...keep it coming. I fortunately got a hand built motor that doesnt burn oil. They didnt offer any buy back for my G, warantee, or cash. I would of thrown some pistons and rods in myself and went SC... or Single Snail. Good luck

Maybe someone else could enlighten me to other causes besides detonation.

Detonation...hmmm yes, many of these suffer from that condition. Many known, well I do, scenarios that cause detonation on these revup VQ's and easily becomes a vicious cycle of many aspects causing that. ZeeForce knows all my knowledge on this condition, along with much other, being my VQ suffers detonation along with the OC plague and I know why and how it's related to my OC, which causes another vicious cycle in that respect. We've been consulting with one another privately for months on end about this OC issue.

06CPV35, we both know all too much the cause and hopefully soon we can release some info that we have been collaborating on for months. All I can hint to without disclosing any info that I shouldn’t be, is the oil consumption has to do with fuels dilute, piston deposits, shearing of oil, and blow-by, among other factors.

thekinn, welcome to the OC thread. It’s not where we would like to be, although we make the best of it, with some great contributors here.
One in particular I would like to give reconition to is 06CPV35 (John) who has a lot of knowledge, and has made a major contribution on this thread and over on Driver for the G’s. He devotes a lot of time between the two threads and it is very much appreciated.
Cheers

wow havent looked in here in a while....ill be getting and oil change this week, the oil level is within the tsb spec (So according to that no oc), and i will be changing to a synthetic, probably motul or mobil1 again.

nexx is that m1 stand for mobil1? also why 0w-40?
edit: jk i remember a thread on that...no im gonna use 5w-30 just to see how it compares to the v1, also im not giving nissan any sympathy.

Currently running Castrol GTX 5w-30 on my second oil change interval at with about 5k on engine. This will put me at 8k when I switch to synth.

Yes, either separate or combined with your sheet, though it may get crowded even if yours changed to 'landscape' format.
I'll draft up a format and guidelines/questions for members to follow on break-in methods with their V1/V2 replacements in the next couple few weeks.
Run it by you and then post when finalized.
Have many of life's curve ***** on my plate presently, but as said before, I'll own this so be patient everyone.
Maybe we'll see a pattern hopefully and help in determining another possible factor between success/failures on the V1/V2's, which has had me tearing out my hair for years.
Far as the timing advance/retarding discussion, I have a friends Cipher logs on his 05 G35 revup while doing his uprev tune. In my free time (haha) I'll ask him if it's okay to post those up. Can't remember details on his tune, but remember after his AFR got in check, his timing was a factor and had to be tweaked as well.

Also, does anyone know what the g35 tsb recommends for a break-in method?
For the record. I started PM'ing people trying to get stats on break in for this reason.
06CPV35 basically to put it kindly, told me to go fu*k myself. You told me Zeeforce already had this information (which he doesn't).
You and Zeeforce are both glory hounds in this thread. People appreciate the effort, but neither of you listen to anyone else. You don't know it all. In fact you know as much as all of us on this topic. NOTHING

I'm new here and have a V2 that is consuming. I've been reading these stories for some time about what causes it. I never went over 5000 rpm on my V2 so I don't buy the therory that its our driving. Some are blind and won't listen to others - bla bla bla - like they know something but Nissan doesn't know. Call it like it is - this is a lemon the V1 and V2. I'm getting my money back.

First page of TSB:
CAUTION: If the engine is replaced as part of this bulletin, please advise the customer to follow the Owner's Manual "Engine Break-in Schedule" for the first 1,200 miles including:
I found it interesting that the 350Z TSB released on Nov 27, 20007 doesn't state the above, while Infiniti's TSB released Jan 10, 2008 does.
There are other break-in methods not oem guidelines, this is what I hope to get to the bottom of as far as success/failures with these revups.
