All kidding aside, could it be the new oil you are using?

I am due for an oil change within the next week and you already know what I am going with this time.
No oil was sloped away from stick at your place a little and gave false lower level reading.

Might be the oil, being 100% Synth this time.
Hearst Castle run will be a good test.

You still doing ~3750mi OCI's?
I'm taking my Synth to ~5K this time.

So as I understand it, if oil consumption is confirmed by the dealership then I should be covered by the factory 60k drivetrain warranty?
Just got back from the dealership after my first oil test. Dealership reported a 20mm loss after 1200miles. They are submitting an engine replacement to Nissan for approval and I should know for sure by Thursday.

Oh…..that's right…

Maybe so.
100 miles of twisties, I cannot wait!

Yes, 3750mi OCI’s on synth PP 5w-30. I do not think it can handle any more miles. Plus I went with it knowing it was less expensive than others and has proven good for DD. My next OCI will be a change to another brand, and depending on the UOA, this oil can go up to 10k mi between OCI’s. It will not arrive in time for Hearst Castle, so I will be pushing the PP past 3750mi.

^ Remembering your UOA's with PP on UOA thread, think you'll be fine until you get back. I would hope it could go at least 5K with no red flags on UOA. What I'm hoping for on my current SynPower 5w-30.

I'll be real curious to check my OC level after same run.

^ Thanks, its reassuring. The shipment left Columbas, OH tonight, should be here sometime early next week. Still may have the oil changed on Friday, if I can get in early.

I will also be checking very closey to my level during and after the run.

The Nissan dealership called today to let me know the engine replacement request was approved. Scheduling to have the engine replace sometime next week!! This was a relief and thank you to the my350z.com community for this thread!

Any official word from Nissan as to the number of 2005/2006 Z's affected by OC? Can it be traced to a certain build date? My 2006 has never used any oil, but as i get closer to 5 years 60k miles i'm getting worried.

Dropping the car off tomorrow morning to start the replacement! They have not told me which engine model they were replacing the original with yet. Is a rental car provided during the replacement? The dealership said they may be able to get a rental for one day but shouldn't I get one for the entire time to complete the job?

There is only one part # they have to replece it with, and its on the last page of the TSB.

Part # 10102-AC7MZ

Make sure your service order states this part number.

Cheers

^ Excellent point. How can a dealer NOT know which part number when there's a TSB

Part # 10102-AC7MA for 350Z was deemed a failure long time ago (pre TSB days).
Watch them like a hawk ATX350...

Will do guys! The dealership has been very vague with me and has not released to much information besides, "Don't worry, we'll have it back to you within two days." I'll definitely be following up on the part number. In the mean time check out my monster rental car:

Yes, watch em like a hawk.

Make sure before you leave the deeler that you take a dipstick reading when its stone cold. Seen a lot that have only filled it with 5.0 qrts when it should be 5.5 qrts on a NEW ENGINE ONLY.

Note: regular oil capacity is 5.0 qrts. The issue is with any new built engine, they need the initial oil filled up to 5.5 qrts, this is to fill in all the crannies in the upper part of the engine,

Cheers
Curtis
