As of 2 months ago, I started carrying a quart in the trunk of my car... My oil consumption has been terrible... and I get it changed about 200-500 miles before its due...

My car was bought in July 4th 2006...

So about 8 months ago i drove to a 3rd dealership(about 35 miles away) and while i was there i spotted an Ultra Yellow GT roadster. I fell in love and traded my coupe in for the roadster (expecting no problems). Now my roadster has 6k miles and its the same problem. Nissan is doing the oil consumption test now for evidence... Wish me luck..

Anyways the bottom line is, they never check the oil levels in the cars and they think we are morons. At the first delaership (where i bought my 03 coupe) the service manager told me that oil doesnt change color in between oil changes. Ohh i was mad, to say the least.

well...after notifying the noise coming from the engine...i took my car to the dealer right away for them to do a diagnose test on oil consumption.

finally, i get my car back w/ new synethic oil and they told me to come back after 1000 miles on it. hope they'll find out the problem and fix it for me. Also, they told me that their service dept recongize this oil consumption issue. and last time they said that they replaced the header and something else to fix this problem on another Zs. ~~~ well...wish me luck on it.

I dont see how headers can have anything to do with our motors losing oil,and I've only got like 160 miles on my z cause I've only had it for a week, but its been sitting at the dealer since may so i'm suspecting my motors gonna lose oil also, but I honestly think maybe we should get something going as far as resolving this issue,we all spent alot of money on our car and theres no reason that a brand new car should be defective like this,I can understand other minor issues like maybe the cd player is skipping or weird noises, but I think we have too many members on this board with the same serious issue and it needs to be resolved

Which Dealer would you guys recommend to go to for checking this problem in SoCal? My car has the oil comsumption problem. It almost empty on me one time. I called Preformance Nissan today, and the service guy sounded like an ***. (Don't wanna mention any names, let's just call him Dan. lol) I asked him if he is aware of this problem for the 06 6spd, and he told me that he only heard of it on a few 05s. In fact, it sounded like a threat when he told me that there is going to be a consecutive charge of 29.99 for doing the test each time I go back for oil check and recheck.
The main thing is that, Nissan should already know that their engine is having problem, but why do they still act dumb when people ask about it. Right now, all I care is about my baby, so if there are any recommended dealers, please let me know. I don't want my baby to get screwed by some half *** tech guy.

thats why I think we should all just start something like a petition or recall or something, this forum is for people all over and the only way to get this problem fixed is to possibly get a recall going to where every dealership is aware of the problem, and we shouldnt have to spend a single penny

Yes. 11000 kms (=6500 miles) not a drop of oil used.

WOW! That is pathetic! I have found that dealers just do not want to deal with issues these days. Actually, for some reason, I do not think they want to deal with warranty issues. That makes no sense to me, but maybe someone can explain to me how the dealer is paid for warranty work.

I got better customer service from this dealer with my Maxima and I did not even buy it there. Of course, it was not under warranty either.

I know there are some Performance Nissan folks on this board (actually Jason was leaving). Maybe they can explain that ridiculous policy.

I broke the car in properly and still lose oil. After my first oil change and due for my second oil change. At around 600K i noticed a weird noise coming from the engine area. It sounded like a "cement mixer" at 2500-3000 RPM. Drove it to work then straight to dealer. Turns out that I had almost NO oil left. Tim at Performance Nissan did an oil change and put me on the oil consumption test. I come back in 700 miles to check on it again. Thanks Tim.

Things to Note:
The engine shakes when turning off
Oil pressure guage was under 10. I asked about oil burning and psi being related on the forrums and some one said no... that is untrue

Fu*k that. I would definately demand that Nissan replace your engine. There may be irreversable damage already done.

I just went 7200 miles (10 months) between oil changes. I lost 5/8 -3/4 of a quart. That's damn good in my book. Broke it in hard, switched to M1 at 600 miles, use OEM Nissan filters and M1 0w-40 for most of it's life span so far (19,000 miles). The only concern I have, is I get a good amount of grind on start-up until the oil pressure is built. Nissan has no fix for this and I'm sure it's going to cause premature wear, but no one seems to know exactly what the issue is. The guys that are consuming oil, should probably start a petition as that is not normal.

Regardless, I am unhappy with what I have read about this topic and will sell my 350Z as soon as something nice and in my price range hits the market. I need to have faith in whatever I am driving, so it won't be a Nissan after what I have learned

That sums it up quite well! I feel the exact same way.

The bad thing is i went from lemon law on my 03 track. to buying 05 track (1st of the rev up) just because i wanted the rays that they stopped making. The problem i noticed b4 i put her to bed this winter was that at high rpm/boost. i smelled something burning. is this directly related to the iol consumption issue. Anyone. and what are the odds they'll take care of it knowing i have a blower on it? 11k iv'e never checked or new of oil cuns.
