I accidentally got my hands on an unopened gallon of synthetic Eneos 0W-20. Can I even use this?

I wouldn't try it. I would stick with a nice 30 to 40wt.

I did some searching for all 30 and 40 wt castrol and mobil 1 oil.
castrol 0w30 has the highest flash point(?) even compared to 40wt ones.
Couldn't find anything else "thicker"(?), and high boiling point(?), then 0w30.

If your engine doesn't burn oil, using a quart of this during a 5 Qt change shouldn't make it too thin. Otherwise you could mix it 50/50 with 5W-40 come out with something +/- 5W-30.

Can't go wrong with any 30 or 40wt. I personally would use German Castrol Syntec 0W-30 or Mobil 1 0W-40 depending on what's for sale.

I believe the Castrol Syntec 0W-30 is discontinued. At least I can't find it anymore. I ended up using Castol Edge Titanium 5w-30 the last time I changed my oil. Anyone have any information on this?

Another way to put it, now that the Castrol Syntec 0W-30 is no more, what oil should I use? (I know, kind of a stupid questions but...)

I saw new German Castrol for sale at my local autozone. It's newly labeled but I forget exactly how (something like "with syntec technology) but it still had "made in Germany" and in 0W-30 They can't not make it. It's a rec refill for late model BMWs and the like.

I wouldn't hesitate to change to Mobil 1 0W-40, Pennzoil Plat 5W-30, Edge 10W-30, GTX and Pennzoil yellow bottle 5W-30 with short oil change intervals.

autozone still has castrol 0w30. i checked the spec for mobil 0w40 but to me, castrol 0w30 has better, higher flash point and boiling point(?), spec than mobil 0w40. i don't see how that's possible cause mobil 0w40 is "suppose" to be thicker.
i want to go thicker than castrol 0w30 that has higher flash point that 0w30. Anyone know which one?

Thanks to both you guys for letting me know about the German Castrol still being available. My local Autozone had a fire and hasn't yet reopened. I went to the local Baxter's, but they don't take used oil so I refused to buy oil from them. I checked at a couple other stores and couldn't find it. I'll go back to Autozone and the German Castrol for the next oil change.

I have been reading thru the posts and i dont see anyone using 15w40s. It is possible i overlooked it. Has anyone done this during the summer and if so what was the results. I have a 3.5L that just had the tensioners replaced and the guy recommended that i run the 15w40 in the summer and switch to 5w40 in the winter. His explanation was that it would coat the pads better and prevent some wear. I have been reading on here and now im questioning him because the tensioners are oil pressure driven so if the oil is thicker then the pressure is higher therefor increasing wear. Please dont beat me up on this. I dont know much about these engines as it is the first one i have ever owned. I know the guy i but it from used regular pennzoil for 4000 mile changes. It now has 103K miles on it and just had the tensioners and cats replaced. It was costly and i would like to try to avoid it happening again if possible. Also feel free to PM me so it dont muddy up this post.

i switched over to Castrol 10W40 this time from castrol 0w30.
The oil pressure at idle for both of them are similar to each other.
What's weird about 10w40 is that when going around 70 mph, oil pressure reads 80 psi. 0w30 read around 67 psi last time.
this normal?

sounds about normal a thicker oil, making oil pump work a little more harder causing the psi to increase. Should be fine though.

I'm running it now in my 370Z, ~1800 miles on this fill so far. I'll post up some UOA numbers when I change the oil.

So far I've tried:
castrol syntec 5w-30 (twice)
castrol syntec 0w-30 (twice)
Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 (once)

hopefully you are mixing in some ester oil or you will start hearing some insane amount of valve train noise... nissan ester oil is positivly charged so it "clings" to metal to protect during cold starts

I'm aware of it but haven't tried it yet. I might go with redline 5w-30 eventually.

6 quarts of 0-30w "Eurpoean Formula" and a m1 filter for $70.00, really after tax i got a even number (Autozone)

Is there another store that might carry a 5qt bottle or something? $8.49 per qt sucks.... maybe i have been to spoiled with buying a 5qt of m1 5-30 for $22 at wallyworld?

I haven't found any places that carry GC other than Autozone, nevermind a discounted 5qt jug.

Cr-Ag... chrome silver. I'm such a nerd.

On the east coast, GC should be on sale next month at Autozone or Pepboys. My local Pep Boys has GC, but it goes really fast when it's on sale. I don't know for sure but it usually alternates every other month or however long the stores put things for sale on their flyers. Don't worry, if you can't wait Mobil1 is currently on sale and 0W-40 is readily available. You also have 1gal containers of T6 Rotella 5W-40 for the guys running test pipes or turbos and that's always available at Walmart. All you have to do is buy two and you have extra refill for our thirsty VQ motors lol.
