New Airfilter=increased Horse Power?
If this has been discussed previously please direct me to the thread. Anyways, I'm walking out of the video store a couple days ago and these two guys stop me to compliment me on the Z. Hey, I'm as vain as the next guy. They ask to see under the hood. I show them. Then one guy who seemed to know what he's talking about said that if I replace the factory air filter (paper) with a cotton air filter I'll gain up to 40 horse power and increase my gas mileage. I am engine illiterate! Is he right or full of air (pardon the pun)?

That guy was not full of air, but he doesn't know anything about the 350Z. The Z is only getting 6-8 hp at the most with a whole intake. Excuse him, some cars can get 10- 12 hp with intakes ( 20 on the rsx type-s). But not the Z.

intake filters work on %, i dont know the exact number, but if there is a car thats pushing out 900 horsepower, with a stock paper element filter. and you replace it with a less restrictive one, you will see a very nice improvement in hp just over a "filter".
think of them as restrictor plates, and youll get the idea.

Sure a filter can add 40 HP if your old filter was an oil soaked sock full of gravel and silly puddy....
IIRC someone did back to back dynos on stock replacements and had better power with a fram... granted the differences COULD eb attributes to MINO variances as seen in many back to back pulls (~4 hp can be common)

I got an air intake that will add 40 horses, really! Its the AEM version 3, and you thought the version 2 sounded too good to be true!

Damn- I would but I can't afford $180 right now. Besides the money I sent you, I also picked up a dragonfire to go with the new exhaust tip (w/ rainbow colored LED's)- my car is gonna be "tight"!!!!
btw- I noticed you're liquored up tonight and angry as well?
