Has enyone ever considered putting a small block chevy into a z car?
This seems like a good combination as a good small v-8 can make 500+ HP pretty cheaply. The weight issue could be offset with an aluminum block.

I'm not talking about the whole ECU, bells, whistles thing. I'm talking about the carborated 9000k fire breathing monster from a (sprint/late model) car!
these motors are very cheap to build. for the price of a SS exhaust and TT i could make about 800 HP all motor and it would run on pump gas. the only tuning would be done with a screwdriver.

I apologize to any sensibilities that I may have offended. I was not considering doing this to my car i was only wondering if it had been done. I saw the newest JUN monster and it kept the vq but got rid of everything else. would you still consider it a z if it had a stagea drivetrain?
I am very impressed with the knowledge of the people on this forum and my original question came to me after reading the post from performance factory about building a 15 to 1 vq and the quest for 300 rwhp NA.
