Default Took me 6 hours to replace a tranmission

... after 6 straight hours of changing my (damaged) CD005 transmission to a CD009 transmission, i pressed the clutch pedal down... AND IT GOT STUCK ON THE FLOOR!

1. I installed everything correctly using the old pitchfork and throw-out bearing from the CD005 transmission..

2. Came to find out that this round ended 17mm BOLT from inside the bellhousing WAS MUCH SHORTER.. (CD009 transmission must have a new type of pitchfork)

3. So i spent the next 6 hours the next day taking it out and installing the LONGER Round-ended 17mm BOLT inside the bell housing.

Now everything works just fine.. and shifts soooo smoothly

What a waste of a day... if u ever get a newer transmission put it.. make sure to compare all components of both transmissions!

If you read Sharif's thread, the CD -009 (2007 Z Transmission?) does away with the fork. It is different.

It made me wonder as well. Clutch engagement is terrible. I'm not quite sure if it needs adjustment. It seems like I have to press the clutch in fast before releasing for it to engage smoothly. If it's too slow, it feels like the engagement is too high so I tend to gas earlier causing it to jerk. This didn't happen when I first got my car in 2002 and I was just learning. The one I have is about 1.5 years old. It was nice and smooth the first few months, and then it's back to clunkiness.

wow, didn't realize they just decided to do away with the clutch fork and the external slave cylinder..

at least parts from the old transmission can still fit in there..

Do the 07's have a different design than the 06's?

The transmission i got is a CD009 from an '06 Z
