Default price for install

i just purchased a nismo lsd and 3.9 gear and pinion. i was wondering what is the going rate for install? i called my local nissan dealership and they told me for the lsd it would be $600, and for the 3.9 they told me i would have to take it to a specialist

thanks
nathan

i would have checked on the install 'before' ordering the parts, but I'm a penny pincer like that.

I would say 600 sounds tight for everything, no sense in taking to one plase and then another you will have duplicate costs for removal and disassembly, find a performance shop close by that can do both.

unless you are getting the LSD dirt cheap, don't get it install by the dealer. i'd take it to a gear specialty shop in your area.

To do the internal job correctly and meet oem standards about 8-10 real hours is necessary.

Since most shops only give a 12,000 mile 12 month warranty they can do it in 5 hours.

How long do you want the gears to last? Selecting testing gear mesh with a group of shims disassembly and starting over a few times to get it perfect takes time!

Save yourself some money as I did. Take your pumpkin out and drop it off.

I had mine installed for $460 at Performance Nissan but that was a while ago and I don't know if they even do that anymore.
