Put that suspension on the ground...beef up the front bumper screws....I also recommend cheap tape over the bumper and hood line....

May God be with you on your run...we expect success and video...lol!

Thanks guys.... But it looks like something has come up with the overall safety of the engine.

Not sure we can run it the way I intended. Still trying to work out details but at the moment it is not looking good. I might still run, but it would be with limited power and nowhere near where the engine should be running. So the chances of hitting 200 mph are looking slim at this point.

Suffice it to say I am extremely disappointed for something like this to come up at such a late point in the execution stage.

Hey let us know if it gets pushed back at all. Especially to some time in august cause then I can make it out there to watch.

Sorry to hear about the engine issues. Hope eveything works out for you. You know what would be nice though is that even with the limited power you still hit 200.

Also would like to know what happened? Hope that you get it up and running before the event. And, if you do good luck with everything and be safe!

My guess would be the engine is fine but he needs Charles' dual intank pump setup. Am I right?

At least. It's unforunate that we found this out yesterday, but at least we found out, and can monitor as we go, and also reduce boost to increase our chances of success. The issue isnt necessarily the absolute capacity of the fuel system, although we are bumping up against that as well.

The issue is that under an extended WOT pass WITHOUT shifting, or any pause, the fuel system will start to drop pressure. It gets worse, obviously, with higher boost pressure. Keep in mind that Brent's stroker is making the same power we make with 20psi, with just 15psi!

This is something that nobody would ever see on the street, or even road racing their car, since you are constantly shifting and decelerating, and allowing the fuel system to catch up, for lack of a better word. In a road racing situation, the max duration of WOT without shifting is less than 8 seconds...if that. At big tracks like Road Atlanta, its probably more like 5-6 seconds, and well within the fuel systems capabilities.

It will be interesting to see if something like the CJM Stage III twin pump can not only provide fuel for xxx whp, but also provide fuel for an extended period of WOT without shifting or decelerating.

BamBam is trying something that has never been done, so we are all learning as we go. I am just sorry it happened under such a difficult time constraint.

So, Brent is on his way back home in his insane looking roadster.....and I will be joining him at the Salt Flats next week.

Hmmm, interesting, but makes complete sense now. Once he hits 200 MPH he should only have to hold it about 20 seconds though right?

Just glad to hear his motor is fine. With all the bad luck he's had it just wouldn't be right for something else major to go wrong. It's all one big learning process

What about tuning and running a super octane fuel? You'd require less fuel that way. Maybe a race gas/methanol mix? You wouldn't want to expose the piping to that all the time but for a short period it should work...

EDIT: another possibility to consider is having two cars run in tandem, one in front of the other so that BamBam's car can draft till the last leg of the top speed run - then he only needs to floor it for about 20 secs to reach his goal. Just a thought if Sharif is going to have his car out there also...

hope you guys figure something out! gl

He will already be running C16. The 200 mph run doesn't have to be for a sustained time. They are hooking our cars up with all the telemetry hardware they need to monitor. He still might be able to break it but we will see.

Damn. Sorry to hear bro. I know you were going all in for this run and did so much work to the car to get it there.

I'm sure it's still going to go down in the record books. Hopefully we'll see more out of her before the season's over, but worst case, you can always plan on saddling up next year for another run...

Sharif -

Do you think the CJ twin-pump will get the fuel levels stable for a 20+ second run? If Brent's Bosch pump / twin Walbro setup isn't enough, then what? External cell and massive fuel pump(s) I'm guessing... But at that point, streetable goes out the door.

with 550whp+, I think we have the power to hit 200mph, but now we are pushing a much heavier car through the air, so it's going to be tricky.

In regards to a solution, I think the easier approach would be a voltage/boost based booster, that would kick in after about 12psi or so, to insure we have more flow out of the existing pumps.

Other than that, its fuel cell time, but I really doubt Brent is going to want to ditch his AV gear in the trunk.
