Forged Performance: Live Report from the Bonneville Salt Flats Speed Attempt**Live
Damn... I'm glad everyone's okay. Sux to hear about the accident. With the axle being replaced, what's the status on the bumper? Can he finish the rally? On a brighter note, that video's sick...
I've been pushing to get my car done for the fireball run this fall, but I'm really starting to get nervous with all of the bad luck Brent's had on these things...

At those speeds aero plays a huge role...that wing was probably NOT helping much. I would like to see whether the Z is really "zerolift" in stock form at 190+mph
I agree with sharif's assessment... a coupe with more stock body trim would probably go much faster at the same power level...
in any case, that vid was sick as f0ck

damn.. Brents going to have some catching up to do.. hopefully someone with co ride with him so he can drive strait thru to the next stop.
a drill and lots 'o zip ties could prolly shore up the bumper temporarily.

The slightly modded C6 maxed out at 160mph, and the Porsche 996 topped out at about 150mph. Keep in mind, we are running at 4400 ft elevation, and 95F temps. Uncorrected, we were probably putting down about 500whp TOPS.
Might be fun to get some Z's together and try it again.
Update: Brent found a mechanic in Bozeman, MT that confirmed the axle is toast. I am overnighting him a new one, so he should be back on the road tomorrow.
The bumper is still attached, and just cosmetic damage....perfectly drivable.
