Forged Performance: Live Report from the Bonneville Salt Flats Speed Attempt**Live
Background thread, if needed: https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/282790-update-my-build-ultimate-goals-and-1-crazy-day-in-utah.html
BamBam and I just arrived at the Bonneville Salt flats. His cars is prepped and ready to go. There are about 10 cars preparing to make high speed passes. The course is roughly 3 miles long, and perfectly flat.
Brent and I were surprised that, although the Salt Flats...are...well...flat....it is a little bit bumpy out there.
Wish us luck...I will report back periodically with our trap speeds shortly. Luckily, Verizon Broadband works out here, in the middle of nowhere. We'll have vids and pics posted soon.

woohooo! Just back back from our first shake down pass, and did 178mph and let off at the 2 mile marker. I think we are easily going 190mph with this thing.
The AF and coolant temps were spot on...no issues yet, and we are only running 14psi boost pressure which is about 600whp tops on our Dyno Dynamics.
The car is absolutley ROCK STEADY at this speed. It tracks 100% perfectly straight and is very confidence inspiring.
Brent is on his own now....lets see how he does.

Second attempt was 183mph, but Brent said he missed a gear..or two...during the initial acceleration point. Still only running a little less than 1 bar boost pressure. EGT's, AF, everything normal so far. It's starting to get REALLY hot here, so I am afraid we not be able to go much faster. We missed the cool morning window, when it was only 75F....now its approaching 100F.
The team here is very safety oriented, which is great. I begged them to let me go down to the radar station and film, and I got some amazing footage of brent passing by at 183mph.
Hey guys, also keep in mind, that 183mph with radar is probably 195+ on the factory digital speed, which is overly optimistic....especially at these speeds.
We are going to try one more pass, and that's it. Stay tuned.
Edit: Brent's car is about 20mph+ faster than anything else out here, and there are some NICE machines out here. Lots of Porsche's and C6's.

High temps are generally better for a top speed run... The lower density of the air makes it easier to cut though, and at those speeds it has more of an effect by reducing drag than the power loss from lower desity air going into the motor.
So long as the motor doesn't overheat.
