Default Help with Upgrades

Hi, all.

My fiance is the one with the 350Z, not me.

This year for our anniversary instead of jewelry she wants some upgrades for her car.

My budget is $1,500.00.

What are necessary starter upgrades within that budget?

I was thinking CAI, exhaust, and maybe a tuner? Any specifics on each of those?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
- Frank

I see a popular tuner is the UTEC tuner?

Is this plug and play with tunes already programmed to simply upload to the car? Or does this need to be taken to a professional to tune?

Doing some more reading on the forum and the way I understand it is the Nismo CAI is overpriced, the JWT PopCharger is good and produces a nice sound and in terms of performance is similar to the Nismo but the K&N CAI produced the best results on the dyno?

Well after 5-years I guess she has enough jewelry.

Most of my buddy’s wives/girlfriends stay home when we go out to play. Mine - well she's right behind us ready to line up.

I just found this thread, and now I'm even more confused. So many different opinions!

Any recommendations on exhaust?

How about reliable vendors? Any recommendations? I don't mind paying a little more with a vendor that actually ships, etc., compared to a vendor with a cheap price tag that will take 2-weeks to ship.

Thanks for the reply,
-Frank

I checked out the Borla pictures & sound clips. Only thing that bothers me are the tips. They look to be around 5"?

Also I didn't read great reviews about Borla on this forum.

Will read up on it some more.

Thanks,
-Frank

I didn't think the Borla tips were much larger, if any, than stock.

As for exhaust, I'd recommend either GReddy EVOII or Fujitsubo with JIC Y-pipe.

what year Z does your wife have? a plenum spacer is a great cheap go faster mod, other than that i would look into either the popcharger or just the simple k&n drop in filter, and an exhaust.

She's got an 05, the anniversary edition. The yellow one. She calls it the "Little Bee".

motordyne is the spacer your going to want to go with for a spacer. I second getting the Jim Wolf Popcharger. I absolutely love mine.

BTW nice car, I drove an SRT8 for a weekend when the dealership was trying to get me into one. I just couldn't pull the trigger on getting a car that big. It definately had some pep to it though.
