Default 07 Enth Tranny Replaced 5th 6th gear feel different?

6500 miles on the car but was getting a grind when shifting into 6th quickly. Turned out to be the synchro. Took the car to the dealer and they replaced the whole tranny. Got the car back today and drove it around for a little bit.

I could have sworn I could get into 5th and 6th by pushing the shift **** all the way to the right, then push up or down for 5th or 6th. But now when I do that, it won't go into gear. It feels like they misaligned the tranny or something when they replaced it. Am i being ****? The difference is probably millimeters from what it used to be, but I just felt weird having to feel around for 5th and 6th gear. I even shifted into 3rd(only going about 40mph) on accident trying to get into 5th. I was thinking about driving back to the dealership and trying it on one of the 07s in the lot. Thoughts?

Stop beating on your car. Why are you shifting into 6th gear FAST ? You would have to be going 150 mph. Were you at the track with your car ?

Something is wrong. I replaced my tranny for the same reason (only difference is I have an older model than you). The new tranny shifted much better (i.e., less "notchy" and easier to find the gear.)

Your test method is exactly how you should evaluate a new transmission... you shift very fast and push or pull hard into the gear you are testing. There's not need to be doing 150 mph to test 6th gear.

You should take the car back to the dealer and go for a test ride with a technician. Show him the problem. I'll bet it's simply adjusting something. If not, they'll install another transmission. Let us know how this is resolved.

I rarely "beat" on the car. If anything I baby the hell out of it for the most part. When I say shift into 6th gear fast, i mean at a normal rate. I had to slowly slide it into 6th before if I wanted to avoid the grind, aka bad synchro . I'm not powershifting into 6th gear, what would be the point of that? Anyways, that was with the old tranny and you would have figured that out if you actually read the whole post.

The shifts themselves are fine, the problem is the location of the shift gates now. You really think another tranny is the simplest solution? What's with the 150 mph accusations hahaha. I think I've topped out at 90 once since I've owned the car.

I have an '06 and just had the engine replaced, oil consumption. THIS EXACT SAME THING EXACTLY AS YOU DESCRIBED HAPPENED TO ME. Previously, all the way to the right and up or down was in gear, now it is just a hair to the right from 4th and up or down, all the way over and I hit a brick wall up or down. Think this can be adjusted? I almost went into 4th instead of 6th, from 5th, one time because of this.

There was a DIY on this. There are a few bolts you need to losen and you can adjust the shift gate guide, or have the dealer do it.

I doubt the fix will be a new (another) tranny, but I mention it only because it's a possible solution the dealer might recommend. As 97supratt mentions, there are adjustments that improve shift-gates. I'm guessing here, but I think that will be the solution.

I don't get the critical comment you received from a member suggesting a 150 mph test. I have no idea what he meant. WT_?

You tested appropriately. Just go to your dealer and duplicate the problem. They will fix this.

I had mine replaced 3000 miles ago. The synchro failed at 2000 miles and has been fine since the new tranny. 6th gear shouldn't wear out, I rarely skip more than 5th gear, and would expect 6th to be over synchronized being the OD gear. I beat on 1-2-3-4, never 5/6, so get over that idea.
