Angry Just ran off the road... SES and SLIP lights

I have a 2003 Z. VIN -- JN1AZ34E03T010745 -- I was driving down an outer road when the car started to kick/spudder. The engine shut off as I was going around a curve and I lost power steering which kept me from being able to turn the vehicle. A tow truck and many phone calls later I arrived at nissan for them to diagnose the vehicle.

The cam shaft position sensor has failed. There are 2 recalls for the sensor with as many as 640000 nissans affected. The dealer told me that my car doesnt qualify since it is VIN specific. I nearly lost my life and they wont fix a recalled part? What should and can I do about this? Thanks guys Josh.

I would immediately file a claim with Nissan, and get some popcorn.

If it was a recall it shouldnt matter if it is out of warranty should it?

Well if it's NOT eligible for recall, then the next logical question is, is it out of warranty?

That is a part of the engine, which means it would be subject to the powertrain warranty which is much longer than the bumper to bumper

If it's NOT eligible for recall, and it's OUT of warranty, sounds like you will probably have to pay to get it fixed... unless you try complaining to 1-800-nissan-1

What happens when you don't visit dealer every 90 days [oil change] to allow them to find things to charge Nissan to fix under warranty.

Dealership service department only has 2 sources of revenue: Nissan Warranty and YOU.
