Unfortunately the same oil is used for rod bearings as lifters so don't go over board with additives and visocity thickeners.

Default start up stuttering noise

I checked out the bulletin and this may very well be the problem...Today, when i went to start my car it didn't start. Seemed like it wasn't getting any fuel. Tried twice and no dice. Somehow, it started the 3rd time. I'm hoping these two things are related. I've combed the internet trying to find the part..but to no avail..Can I even buy this part of does the dealer have to take care of this?

do you hear the ticking all the time? or ONLY on start-up? I hear some sort of stuttering right when the engine turns over WHEN THE WEATHER is COLD. The service rep said that it could be the valves that are NOT getting enough oil but I highly doubt it!

BG Quick Clean for engines is an excellant varnish remover to clean tiny oil orfices. Follow instructions on can PRECISELY. Involes 2 changes of oil and filter over 15-20 minutes..............so don't waste synthetic oils or good filters in the flush out.

Noise is usually the result of not following recommended 90 day/3,750 change interval PRECISELY.

could you guys describe the TICKING SOUND in more detail? How loud is it or the frequency of it? Mine does it usually during initial start-up in a cold morning and I hear it right when the engine turns over. Then I shut off the engine and restart it and usually I won't hear the same noise. Anyone's has the same symptom? Could this be the starter(ie, improper disengagement)?

Unfortunately the oil circulates so be careful with viscosity enhancer additives which might quieten one part and wear another like bearings.

Once the wear is done, nothing can repair except replacing the worn part. Why they make so many minute size increments for shims.

Common problem even on high mileage Lexus V8, failure to change oil every 90 days as recommended for longest engine life.

Study the new bearing used on 2002+ engines, they are extremely sensitive to oil over heats unlike previous leaded triple layer bearings 250F oil can damage them. Not enough to fail before 100k but engines won't be quiet for 300k like old designs. Saving the enviroment has extra added costs.

Any updates on the additive? I Have a ticking noise coming from the right side, I have changed my oil every 3500 miles with Mobil 1 synthetic, and I have the 100K mile warranty. If this is a warranty thing let me know, thanks!

If you wish to try to clean a varnished stuck valve from owner abuse don't waste time on Lucas use a BG Quick Clean for Engines and follow directions precisely. Don't give up if the first treatment doesn't work try twice before ripping engine apart.

Varnish removal requires a different chemical group.

plus one on this stuff... Im boosted and my friend watched me run about 5 times and he said there is NEVER any black or even white smoke that comes out of my exhaust....even when racing..

this is the brand but not the QUICK CLEAN mention above. This is worth the time and money trust me...the fuel treatment alone can be felt after a breig 5 miles of driving with this stuff in the tank..its not an octaine booster either...go with this...plus its the cheapest option mentioned thus far. I run this in my car about every 10 tanks....its 26 bucks a can!!!

edit found it...

I think you have to run both of these....not sure on that....
