SAMCO Hoses - PICS / Must Read
Ok, here's the story....
So me and my friend are replacing my hoses with the pretty SAMCO hoses below.... Darn they look nice.... Coupled with Insane's grounding kit... the Blues are dead on. I thin that AEM blue gots to go.... but I'll wait for Greddy's blue intake and turbo combo (looks like dual intakes).
Back to the hoses.... Well we bleed the system really well... have some problems with the small clamp hose. (Clamp seemed too small, but we got it on there with lube)... But we didn’t flag which way the original S hose connected the upper and lower port. (You cant even see it in a pic). So we debated over which end was which and got it on there.
After it was said and done, we had an extra samco elbow hose (If I couldn’t find the original to take off... why bother?) I still have been checking around the engine for where this hose can go.
Now the fun part, so were re-pressurizing the system.... gassing the car and what not.... and everything is running fine. (We checked for rubbing)
I then decided to do some hill country runs at 140+. Was thinking to myself damn this cars running cool.... Then it happened.... That damn S hose rubbed against an engine belt and burnt a hole. The Car's thermo jumped to H, and the ECU shut the engine down.
I coasted into a nice covered parking lot. So we got the car jacked up, and switched the blue hose with the original... noting which side rubbed, to avoid this from happening again. Once we got everything copasetic… the damn thermo wouldn’t kick in, and I thought it was shot. So my friend got in the car and gassed the hell out of the car…. He yelled “F#$% - a man” as I walked over to see the thermo drop from H to a nice midpoint.

Looks very nice. I got the HKS circle earth and the AEM blue intake right now. I'm probably going to go with blue samco's even though they don't match up perfectly with the AEM intake. A metal finish will never match up perfect, but yours looks really good as it is.

Sorry but the pics were too big, I had to shrink and use 256color format.
If someone wants the big pics, PM me...
I learned.....
1) Label the original hoses with directional notes
2) The Engine will shut off to protect itself when it overheats
3) Blue looks nice

I was running the engine with coolant when the hose shifted and rubbed the belt...
The car spiked in heat...
Engine Shut off...
Coasted to Saftey...
Then Opened the hood with steam everywhere...
Then Swithced the old hose back on there.... and prayed nothing was wrong....
The engine light went on too... but I reset the ECU a day later

Wow. Any idea why the hose shifted? I guess it was a loose clamp or something. The samco's are identical to stock right?

They shifted once they got hot.... (the hose was inverted anyway, so it was on there wrong... I will agree to that)
But you really couldnt tell the directional flow of the hose? So I will tell you to label the old S-hose as you take it off.
dwnshift - wheres your store?
I just reused the old coolant. Had to add more after the hose split.

How many hoses come with the kit? I have been thinking about ordering this, but $150 for a few hoses seems like a lot. I guess if the hose kit replaces all of the coolant lines it's not a bad deal...
I got 5 hoses in my box, but used 4... The 350Z set should have only been 4.....
So I have an extra 8 inch elbow hose for no reason (of course the package also included a pen and a nail) I think Kastle's Korner shipping dept blows.
Looks wise... If you have a nice Grounding Kit and Get the Blue hoses... It realy looks nice.... The pics I posted dont do it justice for a 130+ Plus mod....
