Default Dealer may have over filled my crankcase?

Went to dealership to get my oil change done. I go every 3 months. Came back from dealership, parked my car and went to sleep. Woke up a few hours later (this means car is completely cooled off). I go ahead and check my dip stick and see they filled it way above the MAX line (red line is how much they filled it)... Should I go back to the Dealership and have them drain some oil or just drive it. I should also mention that my car DOESN'T burn oil so, if I don't go to dealer for draining, I will have that same level untill I go for next oil change(in 3 months) thanks.

Change your oil yourself and don't have to worry about this kind of dumbassness. I bet they didn't drain your old oil.

I would have to say its oil splashed up on the dipstick, the VQ is a pain in the azz to check the oil.

Yes...check it more than once and then decide if they put too much in.

Yup , just wipe the dipstick and reinstall , you may have to do this 3 to 5 time to actually get the proper reading.

Well how concerned are you? Too much oil bad. The crank might contact the oil and foam it up. Leading to crappy oil pressure etc...

If you are THAT concerned, put the car on ramps, drain the oil into a CLEAN container and measure how much came out.

If you go to the dealer, they will check and if they find they screwed up, they will just drain the excess and say "it was okay".

On my G sedan I can’t even go by the dip stick… I only use it to make sure oil is there – not how much because its way inaccurate… just a crappy design that they finally fixed with the HR.

I’ve done self oil changes and have had dealer change – every time, the oil is always way high on the dip stick – not because there is too much oil, it just is not a accurate way to measure (I don’t know about the Z, but first gen sedans are all this way).

What i posted above is what is neede for that. I havn't played with an HR yet but with the older motors the dipstick tube get oil in it at the bottem. It takes a few wipes to finally get a good reading.

Both of you guys are dead on money. I checked it 3 times and it was perfect level. Thanks. I'm going to close this thread on the note that in order to get accurate reading from your dip stick (even though some thinks it's still inaccurate), do it more than once. /thread.
