Default 5AT GTM VB Upgrade

just did my vb upgrade ,, great modification and really love the car ,,

we 5at guys sometimes wish it was a 6MT ,, well after my vb upgrade shifting is more fun and it gives u a small kinda jump from 1-2 ,2-3 , 3-4 ,, and mostly 2-3 ,,

daily use is excelent and didnt change anything ,, u only feel the diffrence in manual mode ,,

if going F/I u need the vb upgrade and ur tranny will hold till 400-450whp

its a MUST for all 5at guys feel free to ask any questions

Def a awesome upgrade. Made shifts faster and harder.

1-2 shifts you still have to lead it if you are FI

The car (FI) will build boost and rpm so quickly, you need to actually move the shifter before you actually want to shift.

Exactly. I personally have to tap it to shift at 5500rpm in order shift at redline. 2nd - 3rd is a quick shift though.

Yeah, I had to shift about a second before I wanted it to shift or I constantly hit redlines.

I don't personally know but a good guess woudl be that the stillen is much less aggressive as stillen is more "conservative" with all the parts they sell in exchange for the piece of mind that things won't break. Example is their supercharger kits putting out no power at all but they offer a warranty. Also I know the GTM kit using the Transgo shift kit that you can pick up for 250 bucks i think and I don't know what stillen uses(it might be in house).

GTM 5AT rocks. No VB is going to be able to handle the 1-2 shift with 400+ wtq though. The gearing is just too steep. If you consider 1st gear is 3.7+ and final drive is 3.3, your talking about an order of magnitude torque multiplication. With even a stock TC, you get 2x torque multiplication from a stop. That's nearly 24 x peak torque. 9600 ft-lbs wtq on launch! Tires will slip and the tach will be at redline very quickly. Very difficult to modulate the launch and 1-2 shift.

If the car came from the factory with 400 wtq, I doubt 1st gear would have a 3.7 ratio. Too bad we cannot launch from 2nd gear. It would help a lot.

Yeah. I personally use the transgo kit as well. I drove with a guy with greddy twins and he has a stillen kit and it shifted just as hard as my transgo. So I wouldn't say there's is conservative by and means.
