Default HR exhaust and tune

Im looking to put exhaust on my 2008 z. I already have the stillen gen 3 intake system on the car. I was told to put headers, test pipes and exhaust i was going to have to get the car tuned or i would loose power instead of gain. Someone that has done these things please point me in the right direction. It makes sense that a tune would be better but is it worth the extra money. Im going with stillen headers z1 test pipes and stillen dual exhaust.

ecu flash and tune is probably the best mod you can do for your car - and you'd be silly not to get it tuned after all the mods, you'd be running lean

look into a local osiris tuner when you are ready.

stillen gen 3 intakes or injen long tube intakes are great for the HR - proven gains.

Pretty sure the stock headers are pretty much optimized as well on the HR. Can someone back me up on this?

yea i was gunna say the same. stock headers are equal length tubes. seems like it'd b a lot of money and work for little or no gains if you replaced them

a buddy of mine has the stillen exhaust and it's pretty quiet. Not sure if you want that or not. I'm more for a throatier sound myself so I installed the hks hi-power.

I'm having a simliar problem with my z. I installed berk hfc's, intake, and hks exhaust and now my cel is on and the z is running a little crappy. I was gonna by the Cobb Accessport and tune it, any suggestions?

Reset your ECU before you head to Cobb. I have the same setup... HFCs, ztube intake and F.I Exhaust and reset the ECU after each addition..never got a CEL or funny acting car.

Its worth looking into

I've got the same set as well. I just placed an order for the Cobb AP along with a set of Berk HFC's.

I went with INVIDIA Gemini dual cat-back, and I have the JWT Dual intake. I got my Cobb and changed maps this weekend. Loaded Stage 2 map and went from 244 to 262 on a Dynamics Dyno. Air/Fuel ratio on the rich side, needs additional tweaking, but not bad for plug and play.

The stock headers are not equal length from what I remember, I have them sitting in a box at home and will check tonight when I get home to verify...

You will gain a little with new headers (I would say between 8-12 whp), but I'm not saying the cost justifies it. I went with the Stillen headers and did the Stillen gen 3 intakes at the same time and had some good gains between the two (30whp), and then did a tune which gained another 15whp (Uprev dyno tune). I am very happy with my mods. You can read about my experience with it all here if you want: https://my350z.com/forum/vq35hr/4597...or-vqhr-3.html
