So almost two months ago I bought my first Z. A 2004 coupe with 56k miles on it. Car ran great when I got it. Put a borla exhaust on it and about a week later I started hearing a clunking noise only when accelerating. It being under warranty I took it into the dealer. They have hadj car over 6 weeks and have gone through 3 trannys, a new clutch, flywheel, and driveshaft and can't figure out what's wrong with the car. This is a pretty loud clunk only coming when accelerate which isn't a normal Z noise such as the throw out bearing. Any thoughts or suggestions?! They've said from day one the engine runs really strong and that it's not the engine. Well after replacing everything else they tell me today they might replace it as it's the only thing left.
I mean that dealer has a good rep in my area compared to the other Nissan dealers down here in new Orleans. Plus they are already familiar with my car and the problem as well as replacing many parts under warranty. Its not the exhaust bumping around.
drive over here to biloxi and let me take a look at it. the smart thing to do would be jack up the rear and let someone hit the gas with it in gear and see what they get. something like that sounds like a broke tranny mount or a broke engine mount. i would even check to make sure the differential bolts are tightend.
