Default Fuel Pressure Regulator gone bad?

According to my mechanic, my fuel pressure regulator is bad. The sound is pretty hard to describe, but if I had to describe it... it isn't a constant sound. It's almost like the sound of the pistons at idle (at about the same rate), but not as sharp. Nevertheless, it's kinda loud and annoying from inside the cabin.

Does this sound like a bad fuel pressure regulator? Before I decide to purchase, I want to make sure it is. I'm not doubting my mechanic, I just want to confirmation from others who have had this issue.

And lastly, WHERE TO BUY? I haven't found any luck anywhere else besides the dealership (I would assume).

Hopefully the installation isn't too hard since I plan on doing it myself.

P.S. I'll see if I can post a video of the sound in a few days.

Does the stock system have a fuel pressure regulator? With a returnless (stock) system I always thought that the stock fuel pump does all the regulating... That is located behind the passenger seat. What makes the mechanic think it is going/gone bad?

No idea if the stock system has a FPR.

My mechanic stated that the noises coming from the car at idle were from a bad "fuel pressure regulator". (Constant sound... Quick oscillations). They are all supposed to be former Infiniti/Nissan master techs.

I'll try to get the video up by Friday.

Pretty sure it's the stock dampers that go bad, not a FPR.

^Just did a quick search. The symptoms described are virtually identical to what I have. Thank you!

I'm going to try to fix this and hopefully the noise is gone.

The pressure regulator is built into the pump. There are two dampers on the engine.
