Default Pure wires

Well, the guy did say that they were for welding, but I figured that "Well... it might not be pretty, but it says 4 gauge on it." I just assume that any type of copper will provide a better ground that nothing at all? And like I did say, the idle is definitely smoother.

gfamily,

That's some good information! It actually clears up a lot of the "grey area" of knowledge. I don't know the quality of the 4 gauge wire that I bought, but the guy did say it was for welding equipment. I'm going to stick with it because even low quality wire still has to have conductivity and it is still has to be doing something. Maybe if I win the Supercharger Challenge I'll buy one of Insaneanime's kits to make it look better. You can have ugly cables under your hood if you've got a supercharger now can you? hehehehehe!!!

Default Welding Cable

Well, I did a little more research and found out that the type of cable that I used is called "Essex ExCelene" and is in fact "Welding Cable". Here is the specs on it:

http://www.essexep.com/electrical/pr...A_Excelene.pdf

-ExCELENE Welding Cable-

Conductor: Extra flexible, 30 AWG stranded annealed uncoated copper
Jacket: Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber, black (Available in colors)
Temperature: 105°C to -50°C
Voltage: 600 Volts

What cha think?? Is it crap?

Several of you have done a wonderful job in hijacking Guy's thread over the last few posts. If you are interested in the kit from Z-Xtreme.com, please ask any questions you have.
Otherwise, if you have other interests, please start your own thread.

Question

Guy has always been welcome over on my thread on G35Driver. I give Guy many referrals and my resource thread is for information and also links Z-Xtreme as a source of kits. I have no intention of highjacking this thread as I fully support his efforts and have allowed him to use my information in helping develop new wires for you Z drivers, including the GroundingGear™ 7th wire to the tranny to which I have been uncredited on this thread.

If you'll notice, the other member with whom I was corresponding is now considering a purchase of Guy's kit, even after having done his own. This was my intent, not to highjack this thread.

Sheesh! You guys are a protective bunch!

Guy, let these fellows know that I've never stolen business from you! I hardly have time to fill the requests that I get from the G drivers.

Gord

I think with "hijacking" he is not taking about taking business, but talking about other things on a thread. If the thread is about Insane's wires, and you take over taking about some other wires, or making your own wires, after so many post, it feels the subject of the thread has been "hijacked".

I think what he meant is : if you want to talk about making your own wires, etc, etc, then make your own thread and go for it, and people willl participate at will. By doing it here it seems more you are taking advantage of the "popularity" of this thread.

Thats what I read, or understood.

Default Gord is a friend!

Hey everyone!

Thanks for catching my back people. Everyone’s support is appreciated.

I have to say, though, Gord is the real deal and a true friend.

He’s not trying to muscle in on this thread. He has a wealth of information and is a true contributor to the G35 forums. His thread over at G35Driver is as impressive as this one.

Grounding Kit History Lesson 101:

I purchased my Z on October 11 of last year. I made my first grounding kit within weeks after reading a DIY thread started by Victor, then VQRacer. Around the same time, another thread was started by the infamous Skiddazzle with complete installation instructions as well as an offer to supply the forum with kits for a fair price.

During this time something happened to Victor’s thread and his pictures were lost. So, I decided to start my own thread with a full how-to construction, listing all the tools needed with installation instructions and photos documenting my experience. As my thread started to grow and the topic was debated, Skid’s interest seemed to wane toward other things. He was either unable or uninterested in supplying the kits. He wasn’t making them himself anyway.

SO, people started asking me to make the kits and the rest is history.

In the mean time, a fellow by the name of BillR contacted me from the G35 forums and asked me to design a kit for his Coupe. Bill and I started a thread over at G35Driver and FreshAlloy by the beginning of the New Year, March to be exact.

G35Driver thread

Gord started a NEW thread over at G35Driver around April or May to service his fellow enthusiast, focusing on the people north of the border. His thread has grown because he offers tons of info and is a great guy!

The growth of my thread and the support I receive form the forums members is a testament to the quality of service and the product I provide. I am honored by the loyalty I have inspired.

You guys are the greatest!

As for the other guys “high jacking” the thread – smoke them bastards! LOL

This may have been discussed earlier, but how do you ensure you dont get ground loops? That could make the solution worse than the problem in particular environments.

Definition:

Ground loop is a condition where an unintended connection to ground is made through an interfering electrical conductor. Generally ground loop connection exists when an electrical system is connected through more than one way to the electrical ground.

When two or more devices are connected to a common ground through different paths, a ground loop occurs. Currents flow through these multiple paths and develop voltages, which can cause damage; noise or 50Hz/60Hz hum in audio or video equipment. To prevent ground loops, all signal grounds need to go to one common point and when two grounding points cannot be avoided, one side must isolate the signal and grounds from the other.

The grounding kit is not an audio or video system - it carries no current.

The grounding kit simply acts as a conduit to discharge “noise” from the electrical system. It also provides a means that reduces the inherent resistance from the components.

Of course it carries current! If it didnt, there wouldnt be any point of having it! Even in a clean environment, a ground loop can pick up noise and inject it into the system. Have you ever seen an AM antenna? Its just a 'loop' of wire.

The purpose of improving grounding is to reduce ground bounce, or different voltage potentials for what should be the same ground. Interestingly enough, with AC currents big fat wires arent always the best solution (skin effect).

Sorry for the overly technical question. The engineer in me couldnt resist. Sounds like its worked well for everyone.

Could you leave the grounding wires on if you brought it in for any type of warranty work?

hey, I was about to order a set of black ones on your website. Are the Stinger cables you're offering the same price? If so, I'll take a set in black.

As Guy said, the Stingers are "Matte Silver". I don't believe he has said they are available in black.

Default Truly Amazing, huh?

The length of this thread should speak for itself!

I offer a kick a$$ product at a reasonable price and I treat my clients as friends. My customer service is second to none. What can I say? People keep coming back and referring others because they know I am for real.

This past year has been amazing – all thanks to you guys.

In this past year I have shipped worldwide; the 50 States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Puerto Rico and even to one guy in the Philippines!

I should write to Nissan and tell them how buying a Z changed my life.

I tried eBay for a while but the market place is just WAY too ruthless for my blood. No matter how you set your price, there is always some monkey that is going to nickel and dime you to death. Then there are the ones that flat out steal your $hit! It is not worth it.

Beside, the people that shop eBay, even though there are millions of them, are not the demographic of clients I want.

The people on the forums are the true enthusiasts. You are my market. You are my friends. You are the people that matter. We share a common interest – the love of our Z!

Peace brothers and sisters, thanks again for everything.
