Custom Engine Grounding/Earthing Kit
Insaneamine:
Hope you don't mind, I've been sending some business your way from G35Driver.com when requests have been made re certain colours (I'm only doing the SCOSCHE Smoke and Red) or gold terminals, or when I reach my limit of 2 sets/week. Expect more business if we Canadians experience a postal strike. I told them that hopefully you'd give them a good deal.
BTW, we're finding some improvements when you connect both sets of factory ground wires to the Hyper-Ground connection point at the front of the engine, ie. all ground wires to one point. I thought maybe you 350Z'ers would like to try it as well.

Hey Gordgee!
Of course I don’t mind. In fact I am quite appreciative! I have been meaning to email you.
The moving of the second chassis ground to the front of the engine sounds like an experiment. I’ll try it this weekend while I am installing the Borla that just walked in the door! w00t!
Keep up the fantastic work you are doing for the G35 brothers to the north.

BRAVO, Insaneamine !!! My Daytona Blue grounding kit arrived in only 2 days - thank you for the fantastic service.
Even though I am not very mechanically inclined, I was able to install all the wires in just over one hour. The only difficult part was taking off and replacing the bracket for the hood sensor.
My installation looks so great, that I feel like riding around with my hood up (LOL). I immediately noticed the extremely smooth and quiet idle. When I am stopped at a red light, I can't even tell that the motor is running in my 350Z. This is a wonderful mod for the money .

Just installed the kit in yellow in a Super Black Z.
The quality is top notch. Install was easy and took about 1 hr. Immediately noticed smoother idle.
One suggestion: It was much easier to install with the pics on the thread. Insanamine, you should consider including the step by step instructions (with pics). I printed them from here and it's really a no-brainer.
Nice job insananmine, I'm sending you a couple of customers.
thanks

Hey insaneamine,
I wanted your thoughts on this quote posted by "acid burn" on SKidaZZLe's Grounding/Earthing kit thread:
"One thing I would suggest is to run a ground wire to the exhaust pipes near the oxygen sensors. Since this is another important and high frequency input into the ECU, it should improve things even further."
I asked SKidaZZLe if he would do this to see if it does provide for better gains but, he hasn't responded yet. Also, I was wondering how your materials compare to SKidaZZLe's. According to him, this is what he used:
"We used all Monster Cable 4 gauge and Monster Cable lugs. Wires are also shrink-wrapped. Also added are 5 bolts and washers, to replace 2 stock bolts, and add 3 new bolts."
I'm trying to decide between the both of you. Price is not an issue since I'm only looking to get the best, and Nismo isn't really convincing me that their kit is worth $200. Thanks

zh.guitar – post some pictures!!!
Redline350zTour:
The exhaust oxygen sensor grounding is an interesting proposition. However, I am very concerned about the temperatures near and around the sensors.
I would be more than willing to try it out and make a post.
I use 4 gauge audio quality, high stranded, oxygen free copper cables rate to withstand chemicals and temperatures of up to 125 degree C (257 degree F). The terminals I use are gold plated brass. I also use industrial quality polyolefin heat shrink tubing as a finisher.
Monster Cable is simply a brand name like Kleenex. I purchase wire from Stinger, Scosche, and Tsunami, all top notch manufacturers.
Generally, I do not like to talk about other people but the fact is that SKidWeaZZLe never made the grounding kits himself, he had a shop do it for him. He is probably not going to answer any email regarding the subject either.
I personally hand make these kits to order with the attention to detail as if the kit was for my own Z! Most kits go out the morning after the order is placed via FedEx Express Saver 3 to 4 day for fast delivery.
P.S. I have a very interesting surprise for the Le Mans owners coming up later tonight!
Can someone say “amber” wire??? I knew that you could!

You asked for it and it is finally here!
I just picked up a roll of Sunset wire. I just dropped off my Z at the dealership for some service. They had a Le Mans on the lot. I have to tell you, this is a great match in color.
The wire in the picture may seem a little bright but it is only because of the flash. When my dealer brought out the wire for me to check out, I told him right away, “I’ll take the whole thing.” This wire is that fine.

insaneamine's kit is the bomb. Easy and lots of fun to install. Takes about an hour at most. Looks very nice and the smooth idle was immediately noticable. The quality of the kit is top notch and the transaction was smooth and simple. You have some flexibility in arranging the placement of the wires to suit your taste.
insaneamine: Are you considering producing any other goodies? Perhaps the insaneamine gas cap or the wickedly stealth Antenea? Both seem to be high demand items with few choices. Just curious.

Here is my grounding kit. I bought the wires and lugs, then "borrowed" the crimper from work. Thanx for the help insaneamine. Your a swell guy.
As for a new crimper, I think the one you are using is alot easier to use then the one i had. Too bulky. My crimps where not as neat as yours too... and I do this for a living!

Hey I'm thinking about ordering a set of the ground cables but I have a couple of stupid questions. First in the post that was attached you can clearly see where all of the cables attach to the engine and two of those cables you can see where the other end connects to, but you can't see where the other two connect (confusing and vague...sorry). Also this is probably the real stupid question, does it affect the warrant at all? Thanks for your help.
Completed the first mod on the car a few hours ago, which just happened to be insaneamine kit. Idle is smoother, throttle response better and like many other have said, that little lag spot off of idle is gone.
Hardest part of the whole ordeal was getting that cover screw off under the sway bar. I highly suggest getting a 10mm "crow's foot" type wrench to get in there. Would probably also come in handy for taking off those bolts that hold the hood sensor.
By the way. I ended up with one bolt left over. Although I didn't see mention of it, I wanted to make sure that was correct. (It was the bolt removed in step 2 that is replaced by the 16mm bolt.)
Thanks again for the quality kit.

I include a longer bolt to replace the one on the wire loom bracket on the passenger side where the three wires come together.
Some people use it, others don't - no biggie.
As always, I am very appreciative of everyone's positive praise, it means the world to me! You people are the best! Thank you.
