Not that I should be giving this kind of advice, but I understand people not wanting to purchase because of the logo.

I don't take offense to people not liking the logo. I judge most all of my own purchases based on cosmetics and there is nothing wrong with that.

This material can be sanded, it can be filled with an epoxy, or even a normal polyester body filler that is used in body shops. It can be primered, then repainted, etc.

You could even sand it down, then maybe sand blast the entire piece and it would look as if it was never even there.

It is not a structural necessity, so I wouldnt worry about it.

I would consider offering it as an option, it would have to be extra, as it would require us to do a lot more postwork to the piece because we are not changing the mold. Maybe in the range of $50. It would just seem strange to me to charge more, for less?

I would honestly say that filling it in the top with epoxy would not work. There is some moderate flex in the top of the plenum when you give it gas which makes it look as though it's breathing. If you filled in the top with epoxy, it would definitely crack. I would also advise against sanding the logo off because you would be compromising the strength of the plenum which may lead to pre-mature failure and I would imagine that KINETIX would not cover that under warranty. Believe me, I have seen this plenum in action and it looks GOOD!

I don't think sanding the logo would compromise strength too much. Plus, as all_bark and I had discussed in the other thread, if it's flexing that much, it probably needs some steel spines or a steel plate to brace it anyway.

The possibilities for a plenum like this are limitless. I don't necessarily think it will make the most power, but it definitely offers some good versatility.

Well, since lsdunique said that it could be done and he is the one making them, I'd listen to him. The top does not flex a severe amount, but it is definitely noticible. However, if he says it would be ok, I'd listen to him.

When I get mine I'll keep it exactly as it is.

I am sorry to say, but your opinion will not matter to the guys who simply do not like the logo. Many have not seen the Crawford product in person either, which in my opinion looks incredible powedercoated, but thats just it. My opinion and many do not share the same opinions. If LSD is truly listening then maybe he could create a new version down the road without the logo. I am sure that would be worth it. Maybe a vote should be started to give LSD some collective feedback about the logo so that it is in an easier form to weigh the results to see if a future option could be made available. Personally I would love to see a "Z" logo on the Plenum because I dislike the factory engine cover.

Yeah I was just saying epoxy might work. For me, the logo, of course, stays.

You are 100% correct. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I guess that I am just excited about it because I actually got to see it and am hoping that once all_bark gets the problem fixed, it will get the numbers we all are hoping for.

I don't think it'd be worth it. Most people are going to buy it regardless of the logo.

As for a Z logo there was a vote of sorts and the opinion was we don't need another Z on the car.

We are going to provide a solution for the flex, while we were anticipating this and I personally don't worry about it, no flex would give peace of mind. we are only going over different solutions because in a FI application, it will flex in the other direction, so that is something we have to consider.

I might consider doing another mold without the logo, but it would be slightly more expensive, and slightly further down the line, with no promises on timeframe. While I would love all my cars to have the emblems shaved off right from the factory, I don't think that is ever going to happen.

I am actually very confident on the gains and the gains versus the competition. We think the plenum has great flow properties and we are also doing testing this week on its effect on intake air temperatures. You generally see about a 1% increase in horsepower for every 10 degrees you lower the intake temperature. I don't think it will lower the intake temperature 10 degrees, but only testing will find out.

How about just a small logo on the alu one. As long as it doesn't lose power in NA trim (haven't decided which way I'm going) I'd be happy with that one instead.

LSDUnique, I know you said you will be testing this NA plastic plenum with boost and also that in the nearer and nearer future, you will be coming out with a (possibly out of NA maximum gain potential range) FI aluminum plenum with separate runners. We know the status regarding boost, in testing, as I just mentioned, but what about the other FI, nitrous? Does NO2 act as NA when it comes to the plenum? Should the people with NO2 or the ones planning to run NO2 wait for the FI plenum down the road or is the one coming out going to be ok? Thanks!

I would recommend the plastic plenum for those running nitrous.

The flow properties of the N/A plastic plenum are going to be better for getting a nice even dispersion of nitrous to all 6 cylinders. The FI plenum is for getting more air forced into the engine, while the N/A plastic plenum is for keeping velocities high so that the engine can suck as much air in as possible.

I think this plenum in black would look amazing in the engine bay, and of course, anything that gets me a good amount of hp for a good price can have its logo on my car. My Injen Intake got me probably 1-2hp and injen is pasted all over that little tube. I can't wait for it. The design looks cool IMO as well, nice work.

I am planning on FI in the next 6 months which will require a FI plenum for that application, put was wondering if I put the FI plenum on now will that work with the stock mods. I hope thats not a dumb question

Good luck putting on the FI plenum now... its not anywhere NEAR production phase yet...

For clarification everyone... the plenum in the pictures is for NA and nitrous applications and is made of plastic. It only replaces the upper part of the intake manifold. LSD is working on a SEPARATE intake manifold that will likely be aluminum, and will replace both the upper and lower sections of the manifold. This aluminum manifold will be used in FI applications, but is in early stages of development.

So... to review... LSD will offer two plenums:
1- Plastic, NA/N20 applications, replaces upper part only, available SOON
2- Aluminum, FI app, replaces upper and lower, won't be available for quite some time

Hope I didn't speak out of line, and hope I cleared some things up for people.

Will the lower be compatable with the plastic upper for further N/A gains?
