Where is all your pics???
Does anyone have any reservations about the design of the plenum? I love the way it looks but I was talking with a couple people and I think the retention of the strut bar might be detrimental to performance in the end.

I don't remember the exact flow bench results Crawford put out on the stock plenum, but I think the difference between front and rear cylinders was around 30%. Looking at the inside of the Kinetix plenum (pics in the above thread), You can obviously see that the rear row of screws are deleted, but the strut bar chasm replaces the front row, and is very close to the front set of runners.

What do you guys think?

And don't flame my post because I am in no way flaming LSD, all_bark, or anyone affiliated with Kinetix. I'm just trying to get this thread back to a constructive discussion about the plenum so it will be better when it comes out.

no rear row of screws were deleted.
the only bolts holding it in that were deleted were the six in the middle.

(is that what you were talking about danny?)

Yea sorry. I should have been a bit more specific. I was talking about the six middle screws of the plenum.

We will post the exact dimensions and a visual so everyone can see how we increased flow to the front without sacrificing the strut bar.

Even at the lowest point of our plenum, directly under the strut bar, we still gain about .75". This point is only .25" lower than the rest of the plenum that doesnt dip down. This "dip is also VERY gradual with no sharp transitions. Through my past experience and research you can redirect air without turbulence at angles up to 9 degrees. While it may seem that we lowered the plenum an inch to clear the strut bar, this is not the case. We fully maximized the space under the strut bar and it actually only sits .25" lower than the front section of the plenum which has been rasied 1". This .25" is also at its very lowest point, which only lasts for about .25" in width before sloping back towards the normal height. Plus the absoluote smoothness of the interior of the plenum with no casting marks, or rough transitions makes for great flow characteristics. We will be posting a picture which will illustrate everything I am talking about.

Just to toss in a quick word, thanks to all_bark and LSD for the hard work. Thanks to the others trying to keep this on track.

In a couple months when we all have great new plenums, regardless of where they come from, we will have some great people to thank. Cheers guys and I look forward to more info whenever it should become available!

all_bark asked me not to post the pictures and instead send them to him so that he could post them at a time that both he and lsdunique agree on. Have faith that it will be soon though.

Maybe the chasm for the strut bar just looks larger in the photos. There's no argument from me that the inside of the plenum is sweet. The fact that there are absolutey no casting marks is a big advantage over the stock plenum.

The channel that the strut bar goes in is VERY shallow. Kinetix has done an AMAZING job with the design of this plenum and based on how it operated for the brief time it was tested this Saturday, I am VERY confident that once the issue that was determined to be the cause of the problem is corrected (today I believe), it will produce NICE numbers on the dyno!

Default cats and plenum

My wife is wondering why I've been walking around the house mumbling "cats" and "plenum" in a semi catatonic state.

Umm, I don't know about anyone else, but I know when this product comes to life I would be willing to pay an additional $25-50 NOT to have the giant Kinetix logo on top. I really do not want to offend, but I think its a very unattractive logo that I wouldn't want to make the "highlight" of the center of my engine bay.

I did not mean for this to be an offensive attack vs. Kinetix racing, I believe you guys are working hard to launch some great products. But its one thing to have a subtle brand marque, this is too much. You can tell your marketing department if the logo stays that large I will not purchase this product. Its just too big & ugly.

A version without the logo would require another mold so I don't see that happening for the few of us that feel that way.

I've been thinking about it the last few days. Maybe it can be sanded down or filled with epoxy and sanded flat and then the whole thing painted?

I'm still interested in seeing the results and like the fact that there's more options but as it stands it's not for me.

I agree, fill it with epoxy and then paint.

Sand it off, man. That's a half ounce of weight savings right there.

I actually like the logo. I think it would look especially nice if it were a metal overlay.

Well, I for one think that the Kinetix logo is not that bad when you see it in person. I agree that it is large, but if the thing makes an additional 10-15 hp (?), I would be proud to have the KINETIX logo on my car. It looks really cool when it's "breathing". Something that you'd have to see in person to appreciate.

My concern with sanding it off completely is that, intentional or not, it may be acting as bracing against flexing. That's also related to my concern with filling it is that if it flexes and the epoxy doesn't it'll crack and fall out.

BTW I don't have a problem with the logo design, just the size.

Now, when is the dyno testing happening? j/k

Fill the logo in with high temp silicone calk. That won't crack IF the plenum flexes
