Default Revup motor in a non revup car

So recently the engine in my 2004z 350z 6spd let go. I found a great deal on a engine from a 2006. I know it is a revup engine and has a few more cam sensors in the front of the engine. Can those sensors just be left unplugged? If not, can I just swap the heads from my 2004 on the 2006?

As he said just switch timing covers. Make sure you switch the back piece to the timing cover also. I didn't and there is 1 bolt that don't line up.

I'm assuming once I get the timing cover off I will know what you are talking about but where is the back piece you are talking about?

2 piece timing cover, change front and rear. I did it on my spare motor last week. Then it took me 5 minutes to sell off the rev up timing cover I had no need for

Are you sure it's a Rev up then? I believe only manual G35's had the Rev up motor.

Ok,

so I have the revup motor in my car. I am almost positive what to do now but I want to double check. What I have circled in blue I should take off the revup motor. I should then replace that with the bolt that is in my old motor. I will then take the timing cover completely off the revup motor and put the timing cover from my old motor on it. Also there are 4 cam sensors on the back of the heads. What 2 sensors should I hook my wiring harness to?

What happened to your original engine? Anything we can learn from?

Yea I'd like to know too because I have a 04 g35 6mt sedan and it burns just as much oil as the revups

I wish I had more parts available in front of me to look at. I know rev up cams have been used in many non rev builds, so I know it's possible. The cans from my spare motor were sold to someone doing this. I haven't done this myself, my rev up to de build is going to have aftermarket Non rev cams.

Swapping you your Non rev cams is easiest , but you have the rev up cams to run.

You can use the intake cams with either cam gear. And you can even use the exhaust cams with the de gear but you need a different bolt as the threads are deeper inside the cam and the stock bolt isn't long enough. I think I was told a vq30 bolt would work

I purchased the car about a week before the engine starting knocking. It had low oil pressure when purchased.

I was able to locate the bolts I needed at a parts store.

Engine is running like a champ.
