How to tell what tranny I have
I have a 2003 6mt and I’m curious what transmission is in it... got it at 40k it has cd0#1 stamped on it. It had a sticker up on it that listed what it was but the genius who would think that’s a good idea on the underside of a car should be shot. Half the sticker is gone says cd00 and the number I want gone. Any other way to tell? I tried searching didn’t get a answere.nothing wrong with the car just curious when I was doing the oil change figured I would look. Thanks

The trans is stamped on few different spots.
The case stamped CD002, tail shaft stamped CD001 and the bell housing had a sticker that said CD009 and stamped as well on the inside of it with 009 as well.
Being you have a 2003 MT you have a CD008 which was put into 03-05 MT’s.
009’s were 05-07
There are 2 types of CD008’s from the 03 and 04 which have a different shift fork and pilot ball.

CD008 was an intermediate model and was not introduced until 04.5 model. Prior models used a variety of other model numbers, CD000, CD001 and so forth. (With even more confusing Case Designations).

And specific notes about the case markings here:

Or somewhere in those threads.... didn't go back and look closely.

That’s helpful. And I know 03 didn’t come with a 009, but weren't many replaced under warranty back when they had them. I just wasn’t sure how to tell if that’s happen since I think the outside of the transmission would still have the cd01 marking if I am understanding correctly.
