Grinding on clutch when starting my car
First time posting something and trying to get better with my car. So I will hear a grinding when I press on my clutch. I start up my car and when I release my clutch pedal I'll hear a grinding noise but only when I press it. And this also happens going into 1st and 2nd and reverse gears. But the thing is, it only happens when I first start up my car after not driving it for a good 8 hours or so and the noise only last for like the first 5 minutes of having it on and shifting. After that I dont hear it anymore, it just goes away.
Also, there will be times with my shift stick, I dont really know what it's called, but at times I try to shift and it will be hard to put it in gear. Usually only in first gear.
I just need some help on trying to figure out what the problem really is before I go and fix the wrong thing. Do I need to replace the whole clutch? Flywheel? Please help, I'm trying to resolve this problem before it gets worse.

Welcome- like most technical questions, it's always helpful to post what year Z you have and how many miles are on the odo. In general, it sounds like the throwout bearing and hydrallic slave cylinder might be the first things to check. Depending on what year Z you have, you may have to drop the tranny (HR) or not (DE) to check these components. You may as well check the tranny fluid level while you have the car up in the air.

If you purchased the car with no service records, you're left with guessing what condition the clutch is in. But if the odo says 125K, there's a good chance it needs to be replaced. Why not go back to the original owner and ask him about any clutch work before you commit to it?
The best scenario is you replace the clutch disc, pressure plate, slave and throwout bearing, while keeping the OEM flywheel. Nissan sells a key value clutch kit with all those components for less than what they cost individually, so that's a good option.
