Default error 500

So, heres the deal, Car starts fine, but sometimes wont shift into reverse or drive even manuel mode wont go, then sometimes it will but then drop out of gear and give me no acceleration, like at all and my rpms climb like theres no resistance. Voltage is **** near 16 (using the stock volt gauge is iffy) but it reads that its got power. Any ideas? I have a volt meter but am not sure how to use it to see how much is going to the tranny. 06 5at no codes.

What’s leading you to think it’s electrical/electronic?

Have you checked the fluid?

I must be missing something unless you are seeing metal shavings on the ATF dipstick. Overheated ATF fluid will cause all kinds of problems, not just reverse. Why not service the filter and fluid 1st unless your driving style and instincts tell you it's done...

Its not just reverse, its D, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and reverse, and as black and burnt as it was, (the fluid) I'm pretty sure its toast. Plus just because theres no shavings on the dipstick doesnt mean it's not fried, eventually the metal will settle at the bottom so either way my instincts, say it's done. But I'll go ahead and go through the motions for the sake of updating this post for anyone maybe in the future needing it.
