Default Built Engine questions

So I am planing to build a VQ35 to swap my original motor some time towards the end of this year.
The build is going to consist of:
- Tomie Cams
- Wiseco Forged Pistons 9.5:1 CR
- Carrillo Rods
- Darton mid sleeves 100mm bore
- Upgraded Main, Rod Bearings and Thrust Washers
- OEM crank from VQ37VHR

This will put the car at 4.0 displacement, I plan on boosting the car the following year after i save up for the Kit. Does anyone have any ideas how the car will run NA with this type of setup? Its a pretty big boost in displacement but I'm using lower compression pistons due to wanting to boost it in the future. Are there any NA setups out there with such a high displacement that anybody knows of?

Do you have to sleeve the block? I, still, to this day have not come across a sleeved block that has a solid longevity. Can you boost an OEM 3.5liter block? You are going to spend a metric-ton of money to get .5liter more displacement based off a history of failures.

Everything is going to be more expensive and custom ...

I would keep it an OEM block and turbo it from there - plenty of success stories on this motor untouched.

The 9.5 compression will cost you power ... it'll run a little less power...you may be able to push timing a little more aggressively ...

Do you understand that a 4.0 liter engine, turbo engine will cost you well into the $25k to $50k when it's all said and done? Most people dont do this because it's simply not worth it. Call it $30k in engine work, upgrades, supporting mods to hit 800hp when for $10k you can have 750hp.

I'm just trying to be nice!

I told Mic that my new years resolution was to be 'less' of a dick ...

and who knows? Maybe this guy has $50k+ to sink into a $10k car? You never know!

I would never stroke this engine, and I generally don't give a damn about costs, just not worth it IMO. So far my seats and wheels cost me almost almost as much as my car, I regret nothing lol. Who needs 600+hp in this car anyway, just get something better at that point.

So I'm going to play nice.

IF and ONLY IF you are starting with a HR block will this work!
If you use the VHR Crank, VHR rods, and Custom 100mm pistons you will be at 4.052L

How high do you plan on reving? That will be big factor into what cam's you get. More lift and more duration will move the power to the higher RPM's.

What is your tuning platform?

If you can use 93+ oct then up your compression to 10.5+.

To anwser your final question Sasha Anis has a 4+L N/A Z. But he also has $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in to his car.
