Shortly after I received my pre-order Z, I considered trading it in on an '02 Z06. I told myself, "I plan on modding the 350, so by the time I'm done modding it out, I would have spent the same amount as I would have if I just bought the Z06." I was debating on spending the extra $10k or so for the vette. I also told myself, "well, if I go for the vette now, I just won't mod it at all, so I won't be spending any extra money." After thinking about it though, I realized that regardless of which car I kept, I would want to mod it...there's just no way around that. Everything starts to feel slow after a while, and you're always looking for a little more. Half the fun of owning the car is tinkering with it, finding more performance, etc...at least for me. Therefore, I figured I'd just save myself $10k that I would have spent anyway.

The Z06 is pretty much the top of the food chain for all around sportscars that the average human being can afford. It is a terror on the racetrack, yet plenty civil enough around town to enjoy. The 350Z is definitely a step down, but to me, it's plenty for now. It's got a great chassis, great driving position, easy to control, RWD, nice torque spread, well built, lots of aftermarket support...the list goes on. Some of the Z06 guys look down on the 350Z as being slow, but most of the real enthusiasts who own those cars would appreciate these characteristics of a properly set up 350z if they got one out on the track and shook it down.

Throw a TT on the 350 though, and some question marks begin to arise about the amount of $ that will go into it, and how much TLC you will need to give it. For daily driving, I think either would be cool. For roadcourse duty, I'd go with the Z06 for the money hands down...less worries, potential headaches, factory warranty support if that's an issue, and more potential overall IMO.

Both great cars though.

well put J Ritt sums it up nicely, and I don't fear stock Z06's anyway but I dropped some cash and have a better interior and exterior.

I will always love the old muscle cars, I used to have a 1970 Chevelle SS and when looking at Vettes I saw a 1969 Camaro SS with fender flares and spoliers and it was off the hook and no smog required, gotta love that those cars go for 20k here though now. To treat myself I am taking my car in for some mods today to make her feel loved hehe.

My 2002 Z06 was the best car I have ever owned, better than my Mustangs, Z, or Viper.

Get the Z06. For the money it's well worth it.
