If so, what are your recommendations for setup and break-in?

Are they all noisy? Or can someone recommend a different kind.. Kaaz or Cuzco. This is my next mod along with the ring and pinion and I would really prefer to keep the popcorn popping noises reserved for movie night. Thanks for any help.

I do !!!

I broke it in with the Nismo oil, than changed it out with Valvoline synthetic mixed with (GM Whale Sperm) GM Differential additive got rid of most of the noise and my dif is set at the max setting. Im in IL if you want to go for a spin

any aftermarket LSD you go with will be noisy, or at least noisier than stock. Sometimes you can get them to be a little more quiet depending on what lube you use, but it only helps so much. People just don't seem to understand that when you want perofrmance, you have to make a sacrafice in noise etc....

Anyone who wants "very quiet" in a LSD ,should prolly wait for the Quaife to be released.

Actually the Quaife and ATS Carbon Fiber LSD are both quiet. The ATS is finally available and the Quaife will likely be available this year. LSD can and are made to be quiet, its just more expensive to do so. A Porsche GT3 can beat the Z in almost every performance category, yet it is no louder than our car.

wow a grave digger. glad you can use search. unless z1 changed it i beleive most nismo lds's come from the factory set @ 1.5. The only way to check is to take it apart. The grinding you will get used to. It takes a while if it is your first lsd. But beleive me its well worth it. I can't wait to load back up with a new lsd myself.

It's set @ 1.5 The lockup is factory set @ 60% also(the lowest:quietest setting)

After the break-in get yourself some Motul 90. No matter what though, in the cold it will be noisy. When it warms up it helps but no matter what parking lots will borderline embarrassing.

If my Z was my DD I wouldn't use the nismo but its not so I don't care
