Default Pistons

Looking for some pistons for when I install my vortech kit. Any companies make pistons for the 350 yet? Thinking about just going with the AEBS stroker kit.

The kit comes with pistons! SGP Racing has everything else you might want. Go to their web site.

hehe..funny how two people can interpret the same sentence two different ways. That would be soooooo cool if the Vortech can with LC pistons...all for $4500! Nice....

But seriously...there are several good companies making LC pistons for the Z. Just look around. I might go with Arias...they manufactere then locally her near LA, and they can customize them however you want. They can put heat coatings on them as well, and you can choose the rings and stuff....

so GQ, when are you going to build your engine?

Are there any other parts in production now for building the VQ to handle more boost?

i intend to aquire a junkyard (but intact) engine from a Maxima or whatever...they are all the same blocks essentially.

Once I do that, I will have the motor built up slowly over a 3 month period. I have no decided yet who/where. But I will go with a sleeved, semi-closed deck, and lower compression forged pistons and H-Beam forged con-rods.

Like I said, if you want something off the shelve, there are plenty of read-to-go piston and ring sets for the VQ. Check with Performance Nissan or any import tuner mag. I havent done much research on the rods yet, but I assume they rods as well.

You may have seen the post about the Nissan dealership in boulder CO, that is building the LC VQ motor and put down some serious numbers. There will undoubtedly be some VERY good learnings that come out of that operation. We are all waiting patiently until they post a detailed write-up and dyno charts. Looks very promising though...and I am salivating at the prospects of a 700whp 350Z

Default LC and Vortech

Keep in mind using LC (ie 8.5 etc) in a TT or Roots SC setup would be sweet; however, with a Cent SC like Vortech or ATI , it will perform like a "slug" on for street use. The high CR and the Vortech tend to complement one another. The higher CR gives crisp throttle response down low were the Vortech's (ramped boost profile lacks.

Hey GQ , do you think it's possible to lower the CR on the VQ and still pass the sniffer test?

just wanted to let you all know that the 350 block and the maxima block while being the same architecture are 2 different castings, meaning that engine mounts and accesory pickup points are completely different. also the front timing covers are different also. just wanted to give you a heads up before someone spends money on one. however the heads are identical.
