Default BPU hp estimates

What's up guys,

I currently own a nicely modded wrx but am in the market for a new car. I have been weighing two options, STI or 350z. My question to you guys is this. What could I expect out of a bpu 350 in terms of whp. I really like the styling of the car but am concerned about power. I don't want to go forced induction due to the cost. I'm talking intake, exhaust, etc... If I could get close to 300 to the wheels I would be happy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kaizen

the 350z has about 17% drive train loss on the manuals... and 19% for auto's...

so you are looking at about 235ish tothe wheels out of the stock 287HP 350z... and about 227ish to the wheels out of the stock 287HP 350z...

300hp to the wheels will cost you an arm and a leg.

300 to the wheels might never happen for you w/out F.I.

300RWHP will happen with...

JWT Pop Charter
Nismo 46cc Heads
Nismo Cams (if staying NA)
Nismo Headers
RT High Flow Cats
Exhaust w/ Y-Pipe (rite now my favorite is Tanabe Super Medalion Racing w/ Fujitsubo Y-Pipe)
UR Crank Pulley

That will give you an ET 315 to the wheels

oh by the way... that is what I am planing on doing to my car exactly...

I have the new super street mag and they show how to get different power gains with using certain products, they talked with people from SP Eng, Stillen, Greddy, and JWT. Seems to be worth the money for this mag. Don't bother getting the Turbo mag with the Blue Wing West 350Z, it is nothing I thought it would be. They only got 326 to the wheels with the vortech kit.

It stands for basic performance upgrade, and was coined by the owner of suprastore.com. Which is basically simple bolt-ons.

eg. intake, exhaust, chip, etc.

A bpu supra by the way makes 420 crank hp!!

That's approx. $6500 without install. Add head/cams/header install labor and its more like $8000+. Don't forget ECU tuning to make that stuff all work. There's another $1000. The guy didn't want to spend a lot money on f/i because of cost.

Jason, I will be interested to hear the progress on that beast! Can't wait to see those heads in action.(I hope you're right, but I think 315 to the wheels may be a little optimistic.) Other people with those mods, sans the heads, have gotten 280hp. So the heads will have to deliver 35hp to the wheels. If it does though your Z is going to be the freak!
