OIL pressure LOW!!
Hey i noticed tonight (well actually it was a while back)but i finally posted) that my oil pressure when the engine is warmed up drops bellow 30 psi almost to 15 durning idle. I wanted to know if that is normal. If not what can i do to fix it? do i add oil?

well what i know about oil pressure is not that your oil is low (it could be)... but pressure is casue by how much the oil comes out from the engine bearings onto the engine.. the higher the rpm goes the more oil pressure the engine needs to have so the engine can get enough oil it needs. Have u done anything to ur engine?? anything diffrent? like thicker oil?? or maybe u have a dirty oil filter. (you should use 5w-30 for oil fullysynthetic) if not i suggest u take it back to the dealer to get it check... casue low oil pressure cant damage ur engine int the long run.....

i have the same numbers as you. I just switched to mobil 1 10w30 synthetic about 2K miles ago. My levels are fine. Just check your dip stick.. might take a few tries because of the stupid design

I had an incident of an insanely low oil pressure. To the point that when I was taking a turn the oil pressure would drop almost to damn near 0. Yeah it turned out that my car burned 3 quarts of oil when I was only at about ~500 miles over 3k. I did a lot of good driving in the mountains and prairies over here with buds, but I didn't think that would contribute to that much of oil consumption. It has not happened since though, and that was about 3 months ago. I was just using regular oil as well, not synthetic. tap the oil and and keep an eye on it.

I use both mobil 1 and royal purple 5w 30. The royal purple gives me higher psi at idle. You can't go wrong with either one. Going with 10w 30 would help if you are still not happy with your oil psi after trying the 5w 30.

I had something similar while using Valvoline Durablend 5W-30. While my Z idle at around 30psi when the oil was new, the oil pressure dropped to 20 psi after 4K miles. I thought it was due to viscosity breakdown of the motor oil. Changed the oil and it never happened again. BTW, I have been using Mobil 1 0W-40 and 5W-40 with excellent results
