The Official LS Swap Info/Questions Thread
For anyone running or looking to run the LS1 motor, be aware that if you have 853 heads you may be limited to only using the graphite head gaskets. The picture below shows the difference between early 853's and late 853's. The key area of difference is the inset pad that was only on the early heads and was used to assist in getting the heads off of the block.
This prying pocket reduced the gasket area around one of the cyclinders and the MLS gaskets would not seal properly. The OEM graphite gaskets aren't bad, but if you are ever looking to upgrade and you have the pad, you will be limited to using only the graphite gasket. In the picture below, you can see the early version on top has a pad under the third cylinder and the bottom later version does not.

midz350 the sikky kit only works with LS1/2/6 motors right now. I would contact them to see what needs to be modified to make the LS7 fit. They may be able to help on wiring harness, but from what I heard they aren't that good yet with the harnesses. Quamen, SnyperZ, and bbs350 would certainly be able to help you through getting it wired up properly. There was a thread on here with an LS7 350z. It was a race car though. I will dig up the thread.

^^ yeah i have a 98 motor but it does not matter what LS you have they are all interchangeable.. Trust me I know.. And I am using a custom wiring harness like Painless.. doing away with a lot of things cause this is going to be mainly my track car..
Woot woot! Do it! The only stock wiring left in my car us six inch pig tails on the headlights, tail lights and wipers. Everything else is 100% gutted.
Loving it! Just finished re-wiring the headlights, windows and wipers today. Now onto the tail lights this week and then all the relays to finish everything off. The block should be getting sent to the machine shop in two weeks and then I start assembling the stroker.
I just got finished reading this whole thread and I'm even more ready to do a swap. In my area, LS motors are the norm so having help with this swap would be very easy. A good friend of mine here eats, sleeps and breathes LS motors so he will be helping out the most.
Has anyone tried doing an LS swap with a vq35hr? Any differences with the SIKKY kit for an 07 Z?

I was thinking about just ditching the windows and maybe doing some Lexan windows..
Yup Yup I can't wait.. I have a question for you though.. are you running one relay for the tail lights and headlights or separate for each? Also what about your windows, are you going to run a relay for rolling the windows down and up?

I am not entirely sure about the relays for the headlights yet. I have to see how many amps they are first. I'm guessing two though and one for the tail lights. I'm running only two blinker relays (left & right).

I forgot that I'm wiring my headlights different than stock. I am not using relays because I want my headlights to turn on automatically when the car is running like most cars. I have a switched power 20 position fuse panel on my car and I'm just going to run them to that.

I run one relay per window. The up and down function are simply done by changing which terminals get power and ground on the window motor. I just used a double poll double throw toggle for each window.
