03 Turbo Z to LSZ
Currently I have a 2003 Nissan 350z with a Turbonetics single turbo kit. The motor currently has 49,xxx original miles. I’m pulling the turbo vq this weekend. I’ve been building a 5.7L LS1 over the past 6 months.
Engine build sheet:
5.7L all aluminum motor from an 01 camaro
243 Heads
TSP 228r cam 112 LSA
.660 Dual valve springs
polished valves
Mellings 10296 oil pump
ls2 timing chain
timing chain dampener
Hardened push rods
ls7 lifters w/ ls2 trays
trunnion upgrade
ARP harmonic balancer bolt
Earls head bolts
Ls6 valley cover
ls6 intake
Holley Sniper fuel rail
(new gaskets, seals, water pump, thermostat, orings, plugs, wires)
Swap parts:
ISR motor/ trans mounts
ISR Cd009 trans adapter
rest tbd

If it was me ... I would keep your turbo'd in-tact and find a salvaged / high mileage z and do the LS swap in it.
Regardless - interested in your build and subscribed!

So I came to the conclusion I’m ok with doing the swap because I plan on keeping the car for a long time and it would be extremely hard to find another cheap z that is as clean outside and in.

Here is the turbo setup, very clean and I currently have the motor, trans and turbo kit up for sale.
The day I picked up the motor. I think I drove from Panama City all the way to Jacksonville Fl
I started tearing everything down and cleaning the block.

Looking back - circa 2010 I started gutting my car and essentially took a +/-$20k 45k mile touring model z33 and cut it's value in half. I have no intention of selling my car so it's not a huge thing but still
Great progress - love the pics!
