ok, so you guys who put on aftermarket wings, have you noticed any addional downforce at high speed? Does the tail feel a little more planted?

yeah i'd guess since downforce is a function of downforce squared vs speed, it'd probably have to be around 80mph or higher before you can actually feel anything.
Still, I figure it'll only help

I'd be willing to bet that Nissan did some time with a wind tunnel on the Z to get the drag down so low. They spent a bunch of engineering time to get the weight ratio correct and they probably did the same with the down force.

hehe that's cool, I already ordered my wing - mostly for looks I guess, but partly for function too.
Maybe we can get together at a meet and swap cars for a bit, and go for a drive. I've been curious to get a feel for what it's like to drive with aftermarket seats

Don't have a wing on my Z yet but my two previous cars that I tracked had a wing or a spoiler. The downforce begins slowly at about 72 mph and tops out around 95. I noticed the downforce most on my BMW. When passing at 80 and turning back into the right lane it felt like a large hand pushing down on the rear to keep it planted. Very reassuring.
Because the Z is so low and firmly sprung I doubt if you would ever get the same feeling but it's there, even with the little factory spoiler.

Had my Z on the track 2 weeks ago, I have a Z-spec wing, I could feel the difference during high speed turns and coming out hard onto the straights. You can really feel the rear bite down.
