Default carbon fiber hoods and rock chips

i am looking into repainting my hood due to rock chips, instead of spending the money for the stock look i am thinking of just getting a c/f hood. Will the c/f chip easily like the stock hood?

You might get some minor chips in the clear from small rocks, but they will be harder to see and can easily be touched up DIY.

The hood should chip easier than stock. I'd get a 3M clear bra for it.

It is a clear "stick on" piece. You'd have to call a local place to get a quote. Most installers will do a full kit that has hood, bumper and mirrors.

a carbon hood is just as prone to rock chips as a stock one

the best way to prevent chips is a clear bra

Anything with paint or clear coat can chip. It's less noticeable on a carbon hood. I have the Seibon hoods in stock and on sale ! Follow the link in my signature.

if i were to get a CF hood, and put a clear bra on it, can it later be removed so that i can paint the CF and re-apply the clear bra?

Anyone with a photo of a CF hood with a clear bra installed? Just wanted to check out how much it will show... probably not much?

Thanks!
C.

sorta hard to spot in a picture - up close, I find them very noticeable, but everyone's perception is a bit different too (and it depends on the color car it's on)
