Default Nismo Spoiler Lift Support

I just got an 06 Z and I had the Nismo wing put on it from the dealer after I had the car for about 3 weeks. The trunk hatch is now really heavy compared to it before having the spoiler and in cold temps, the hatch would not stay open. The lift supports would not hold the new weight of the hatch. I read through some of the other forums about this topic and figured out that I should have gotten the matching nismo lift supports that go with the spoiler but I had to buy them seperately. So I went down to my local dealer to see what can be done, and after some sweet talking and explainging to the clueless service writer how I almost busted my head open from the hatch slamming shut on top of me after I opened it. I convinced them to order me the nismo supports and have them installed at no charge to me of course, instead of a lawsuit!
The only problem with this is that they can't figure out what the nissan part number is for the Nismo Lift Supports, only the one for the OEM ones. Does anyone know what the part numbers are?

I'm assuming you have v1 nismo spoiler..it's funny because lift holds my v2 spoiler just fine eventhough they are much heavier than v1. I'm interested on part # as well just in case my shock fails in the future.

i would think that more so than the weight of your wing, it's the weather.
i always noticed they don't work so well, when i go skying(no not in my z, but had another hatch back before). it's where you live(PA), and the time of the year.

you might also consider removing the rear wiper and motor assembly, that's proly twice as heavy as your wing.

i'm removing my wiper/motor today, my lift works fine but i want the clean look,,, and plus i don't drive much in rain anyways(weekend car for me)..

Thanks for the link MC. I will have to run that by with my dealer and let them order it for me.
Thanks for the other advice guys. The counter weight and wiper motor ideas would be a good next step if the nismo shocks don't help. But since I talked my dealer into getting me the Nismo shocks for nothing, I will try that first. Your right about the weather my2003z, I had a 94 Civic hatchback before and it didn't work as well in cold weather, but I could still open it easy. My Z's hatch has almost no support when I try to open it. Even in warm temps, if I hit the trunk button, the latch does not get to release properly because the hatch does not pop up enough to clear it. I have to push the button while pulling up on the hatch to open it.

I have the exact same spoiler, and had the exact same issue. purchased the shocks from jtabraham, did the 10 min install, and now, no more problems. I was actually pleasantly suprised that half way through the installation, with only the stronger left rear hatch support on, it was able to hold up the hatch by itself. Couldn't lift the hatch on its own, but it wouldn't fall, which is more than i can say for both the OEMs. With both installed, i only have to lift the hatch about 6 inches before the hatch supports do the rest of the work.
