you wanna save 400-500 on a hood (that weigth as much if not more than the stock hood btw)? go ahead, when the gaps make you look like a ricer, it's your own fault.

you pay for what you get.

that is why I feel buying used is still better than buying a knockoff. < not that I havent bought a replica (hello Version 2 bumper!) but the price different was enough for me to take the chance and accept the flaws. since 350 or 900+???.... yeah, big difference.
People just can't be more original anymore. But this hood either can't close, or doesn't fit good or needs to be cut. If the hood fits good but crack in the future within short period of time then that is what you get from buying knock off. But not able to fit or close then that is something else.

very true. the issue I see is that some cars they fit on, some they dont.

I can fit my strut bar with no spacers (and still clearance) with a 1/2 spacer. other guys cannot

some guy's spacers don't run on the hood, others do.

it seems to be a toss up with these cars.

Can anyone say adjustability built in? Just an idea, but I bet I can put my hood on your car, not because both cars were built exactly the same, but because of the adjustability in the hood mounting. Can I ask why as consumers so many of you are perfectly ok accepting part that you must modify to make fit?

In the case of the brake mod, where you have to cut the dust shield, you don't have a choice, the brakes are larger than the stock, so they need more room, perfectly understandable........ What if the new brakes came and you had to cut your brake cylinder to fit on the car? That's really what we are talking about here, it's not a matter of modify the car to accept a part that absolutely would not fit otherwise it's a matter of modifying a brand new part that should fit in the same space as the stock part. If you need to cut out the center brace of the hood to get it to fit, why did the factory put the brace there in the first place?

Here's another example, You buy something at the store, let's call it a widgit, and this widgit requires screws that are supplied by the manufacturer. The one you bought didn't come with the hardware package. You have a few choices.

A: source the screws yourself
B: return the widgit to the store and either exchange or return it
C: contact the manufacturer to get them to send a hardware packet out

All the solutions will get you where you want to be, but do you want to wait a week or 2 to get the hardware from widgitware LTD? Should you have to fork over more money to get the hardware elsewhere? Should the store do an exchange on the defected part even though they didn't make it? I think most people already know the answer to these questions, you just need to apply it correctly to the current situation. Now let's assume that ALL of the widgits made are missing the hardware package? Now what? Is the store that sold you the widgit responsible for taking back all the widgits that were sold to people who aren't ok spending more money to assemble an item that they already bought? Is the manufacturer liable for the hardware that they said they would supply? Why is this such a difficult concept for some people to grasp? What if your CD rom drive didn't fit in the bay on your computer? Do you modify your computer? Modify your brand new CD rom drive? Return that off sized POS back to the store and get your money back?

Let's be realistic here.

again, apples to oranges and missing parts to ill fitting parts.

aaand what adjustability for the stock hood? have you seen the stock hood mounting points? there is no adjustability. the only adjustable part is that you can slide the latch up and down in the front... you need to use spacers to move it forward, spacers to raise the hood in the back or a drill to slot the holes.

and in terms of the frame rubbing. seibon has to use a different skeleton becuase of the vents in the TS hood, so the 'lowest' points on the hood are in different areas than stock.

and these 'skeletons' are over resined fiberglass from what I have seen which probably leads to big variations in thier thickness hence the need to shave them down <without going through the skeleton i would assume. as I said, the two seibon hoods I have installed, neither required messing with the skeleton, but both required modifications to the mounting points so when people refer to shaving down the skeleton I do not know how much they are talking about.

ALSO I want to add, I think that issue comes from the fact seibon feels the need to drill the mounting holes themselves... even though they do it crooked it seems <which again, leads to fitment issues cause you are stuck if it is slightly off. if they didn't drill thier own holes it might make the end fitment that much easier. more labor but I think a much better solution.

and again, I do not see why you are defending the brake kits when they don't fit because, as you said "it's not a matter of modify the car to accept a part that absolutely would not fit otherwise it's a matter of modifying a brand new part that should fit in the same space as the stock part." well, as I so kindly pointed out, the hood the OP was trying to fit was NOT an oem repica. it was a hood with two rather large vents built in, that I think you will agree was not in the minds of Nissan engineers when figuring in strut bar to hood clearances. so since you support the BBK makers, you support Seibon in this case. if you are putting parts on that are out of OE specs (big *** vents that require different bracing?) be prepared to modify something.

DXJP the hood was $650 not $150, so get your facts straight. Everyone else... the hood is going back on for pics so relax and then we'll see..

I personally can not see having to shim mounting points with several ugly washers and cutting away parts of the fiberglass skeleton of the hood as a reasonable amount of modifications to make it fit...If Nissan can produce hundreds of thousands of sheetmetal hoods that retail in the $450 range and fit flawlessly, then why can't Seibon produce hundreds of hoods that fit properly for $200-$500 more?? Certainly the process of making a sheetmetal hood is far more expensive than a CF overlayed Fiberglass hood..
This thread and its responses anger me..
Although the OP may have not gone about the right way to resolve the issue with Carbon LTD, i find it offensive to the industry as a whole when a company both manufacturere and reseller, do not stand behind what they sell and resort to nonsence to get out of backing up their product. I have dealt with body kit companies in the past, and no longer shoose to do so as a result of these situations. Although there is a claimed warranty by the manufacturer, you will never see one case of them forfilling their warranty obligations...Ever..

I can not speak for Seibon, but I for one have stood next to everything I have sold. In fact, I'm out hundreds from my own pocket from past 350z TS hood problems. I'm not saying I wont stand behind this hood, but proof is surely needed before I spend $125 to pick up a hood.

I hope so..
I have reffered several of my customers to you, Rome,Zoni, and Chris to name a few..I honsetly hope you treat them as if I would treat them. This thread is the reason which I chose to refer them to you and not sell Seibon or any body kits myself.
I 100% agree with you that Chris handeled this the wrong way, and I have since advised him to take the photos and send proof, like he should have.
I can personally vouch that Chris is not some 19 year old punk trying to get over.He is a grown man and he is a good customer of ours. He may have just lost his cool and been frustrated with the whole deal. His car was not in a front end or any end collision like you implied, which is a typical F.U. out on your end IMHO. The fact that a customers car is in a body shop is not a reason to imply such and attemt to void standing behind what you claim to be the #1 retailer in the country for..After all you claim to beat anyones price, but do you claim to beat their customer service? I hope so..
Seibon reccomends "professional install" which is what Chris has done, since we refused to install it as we are NOT a body shop. The mere fact you would infer the collision is IMHO, 100% uncalled for on your end. When a "Professional" says the hood does not fit, it does not fit..Are you a qualified and certified body kit installer?Or just a DOT COM website?

I didn't just pull that info from my butt. His body shop that was working on the car told me it looked like it was in a front end collision before, but that the front fenders didn't look like they have been removed. I spoke to Gary for awhile discussing possible solutions to the fitment. Gary (Body shop owner) mentioned the things on the phone that made it seem that it was in an accident, but I can not remember his exact words.

You're not a body shop, how do you know his car wasn't in an accident? Im going off what I know. All I know is what was told by Gary at the body shop. I have asked numerous times what the fitment issues are and the OP refuses to give any detail, just that I need to come pick up the hood.

AND YOUR POINT IS.

A decent Carbon hood goes for at least a grand you got a hood for 650 thats a chance you take right there. The other is, is it a knock off if so what do you expect it will never be as good as the original.

You going to PM me dont bother I wont open it. Spend that time taking pix

It's amazing how everyone defends seibon for making a crappy product. Just because a product is cheap or a knock off doesn't mean it shouldn't fit. When will you guys get it.

HOLY CRAP!!!! You shortened my last 8 posts down to 1 sentence. Why didn't I think of that? I will grant you that for $650 maybe it wouldn't look as nice as a $1000 hood as one person previously commented, but it should at least fit on the car.

My friend, if we ever meet face to face the first round is on me!!

..... pics? i guess if it took you 2 months just to complain about your hood fitment.. it'll take even longer considering this time when you put it on you have to go through the hassle of taking pictures and uploading them.

Now clearly the logical thing to do is cut on the $30,000 car to make the hood fit.
