Default Question for those with vented CF hood

I'm in the market for CF hood, and I'm torn between Seibon OEM style CF hood and Asuka CF hood.
Here's a question for those who have CF hood with vents/scoops, etc..
How do you drive in the rain? Is there some stuff that blocks all the rain from
entering the engine bay or somethin?
I'm leaning more towards Asuka, but if I can't drive the car in the rain cuz of vents, I'll just go for OEM style.
If you can chime in on this I would appreciate it.

I have the Seibon VT, I do occasionally drive in the rain {when caught}. I did though have to toss the popcharger for the stock box. I have the 06box/K&N. so it works out. I would choose the Asuka over any Seibon made for quality reasons. My seibon is pretty flimsy.

I've seen some with covers underneath the vents. Which is something I would like as-well. But I wouldn't know who would have them.

Seibon's don't come with any guards. I wouldn't bother getting an OEM style CF since there is no performance benefit to it.

Seibon hoods DO come with rain guards. The TS2, and GT all have guards.

That's interesting, cause when I've asked Seibon about it, they tell me no. In addition, all the hoods that I have purchased from them have never had the guards with them.

Maybe you can hook me up with some vent guards then???

Yeah, the Ts2 for sure comes with the rain guard. I'm almost positive it was the TS and the GT are the other two with rain guards.

I know the TS2 is a new mold, so maybe they incorporated them in with the newer mold. All of my group buy TS2 had the guards.

edit: 100% positive the Ts2 and TS have guards.

The filter on your JWT is oiled and water should just run off of it. The entire unit would have to be submerged for water to be sucked in and cause damage. I have the VT and vents are directly above my JWT. Initially I would cover the filter if I was parked and it was raining, but since my first cleaning and oiling of it, I'm confident that it's well oiled.

What is the H in H2O? A "little" of that will actually not hurt your combustion, but create a better one. I for one am not worried about rain.

I guess Seibon just likes you more than me.

Correct your filter would have to almost be fully submerged for hydrolock to take place. The only real downside to a vented hood is a dirtier engine bay but the positive is the decrease in under the hood temps.

Maybe it was the older TS versions. Mine had decent raingaurds. None on the VT though. Maybe Seibon discontinued them.

Let me say this, my car sat out all night one night and it rained liked a ****. The next morn. when I left it went into limpmode and about scared the crap outta me. I thought it was done for. Went back and put off the sopping wet filter and everthing was fine. The oil does not keep water out. If your creative you can fab. an aluminum shield over the filter to direct water away.

hm..never heard of a motor going into limp because of a wet filter. Good to hear your car survived !

I used to spray my engine bay with water to clean it. You'll be fine.
