Check your VIN #'s against each other to see if they were manufactured at the same plant.

This is from 2004 but the plant codes should still be the same:

I have an 07 and I can see what he is talking about. My door handle haa 2 very minor scratches that are white like that, and the steering wheel also has some minor clear coat type scratches. All after 6 months I noticed it was happening and stopped using my nails to touch things. It was easy im a guy with short nails.

It might be more productive to find out what all those who have this problem have in common. What are your occupations? Are you exposed to harsh chemicals that might wind up on your hands? What hobbies do you have? How do you clean your car? Maybe the problem is a symptom of the driver and not a particular model year.

Yes, but we're still waiting for a non-06 to report these issues.

That is far more compelling than any activities taking place inside the car.

agreed. I love how most people are ready to blame the owners with theories of long nails, abusive behavior within the car, cleaning with solvents, working in nuclear plants and bring those chemicals in the car after work and overall general deception.
Perhaps the board would be more compassionate if they had the 06'+ lining materials in their car.

First we have ape man and his hairy arms....

Ok, I can vouch for the long nails, there aren't any scratches in my Z such as you showed in your first photos. My Z is an 04.

BRONZEE,

What do you mean you can vouch for the long nails?
I think we've also narrowed this problem down to the new lining which would be 06's. Not one person with an 03'-05' has encountered this since they have a different finish on their cars.
Please contact any 06' Z owners that you may know and ask them if they see anything similar to what you've seen here
Thank you

Check Blackhawk007's response. Also, I drive an 06 with 4K miles and no evidence of any wear of this type. I also stick by my initial observation that if wear is being found on parts coming from different suppliers its highly unlikely that they all supplied defective components to these particular Z's. Much more likely something is attacking the finish on the different parts.

Skeptical here. Apologies, but this is straight up abuse. Customer Abuse. The pictures are pretty clear cut.

Either that, or some hater wiped your car's interior down with nail polish remover.

This NOT racist but an astute observation. African Americans have a tendancy to have dry skin especially the hands & elbows. Many use mosturizing lotions some of which have a greasy consistency.
