Default gas tank issue + shutter valve

Hi, I'm planning to replace the shutter valve in the gas tank. I have trouble filling the tank up, it won't let me put no more then 5 gallons! if I force it in the gas will jus spew out of the filler and onto the body :squint I'm guessin that the fuel pump location is underneath the subwoofer and the rear storage compartment. A tech told me that u are able to fit ur hand and replace the shutter valve inside the gas tank without dropping the whole thing. any help with the removal would be great or locations on the fuel pump.

even know it may cure your problem, it sounds like a refueler hose issue which was a TSB and should be replaced for free. I would have them replace that before diving in yourself.

I've had the subwoofer out a couple times, but i wasn't looking for the valve. Take pictures if you do it yourself let us see.

you can get to the fuel pump by going behing your passenger seat, remove the plastic cover in the storage department and the fuel pump if right underneath.

I took the car back to the dealer and they said I had no recalls in the system. I already bought the shutter valve and O-ring and I'll attempt this repair step by step with pics if anyone else is having the same issue.. I currently drive an 04 touring model and it's a pain in the *** to fill up when the tank doesnt want anymore.

It only happens on certain pumps for me at Shell. What i do is twist the gas nozzle to the left or right so it's parallel with the ground. It should hold there and fill up. Just make sure you watch the gallons so you don't overfill. Most of the time i just avoid those pumps altogether.

I don't think it's the station cause I went to several places to test to see if that was the issue and it wasn't. I tried going through different angles and everything only mess it made was spewing gas out of the filler! grrrr. I couldn't fill up no more then 5 gallon everytime! this is ridiculus how nissan wants us to pay for something that was faulty on there part..

I have an 03 track and i am experiencing the same problem. I bought my Z used so i dont have warranty on it so i'll try to replace the shutter valve myself. If you did replace that shutter valve could you post pics and a step by step process? Thanks.
