I'm gonna have to say it. SEARCH. But just as a quick answer. Yes, the struts are too strong.

I also have the mastergrade hatch. The stock hatch struts are way too strong for the Cf hatch. You might want to look into this : https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340839
Just got mine and it works beautifully. Just enough force to hold the cf hatch, while not too overbearing.

wouldnt a set of worn down stock struts work just fine? ie, a set that barely holds up a stock hatch?

Dude, take that to a different shop than you got it installed at, and have them fix that gap. Whoever put that on installed it incorrectly (no sure how that can be done) or isnt too good with lining panels up. I can tell you my hatch was one of the best fitting pieces i have ever worked with on any car.

Tom

Sorry to the OP, back on topic.

I actually have the mastergrade hatch with oem glass and the stock shocks were still way too strong. I would suggest ordering a set from the threads that were posted above, got mine and they work great!

for TGS-Z I can pretty much guarantee on the inner part of it where it meets the actual car the hinges I believe you put it on upside down so it causes that gap. I did the same thing and was like wtf this thing doesnt fit take it back off and turn those around and put em back on and it should fix your gap no problem

+1 on taking your car to a different body shop bro. I highly doubt your shop installed your hatch correctly. Not even my Mastergrade hatch has a gap that huge. Didn't you post a thread about it before?? How come you didn't take our suggestions??

I apologize in advance for being delayed on pics. I'm still trying to rule out it being an installer issue. I'm hoping the hinge just needs some tweaking and all will be well. There also seems to be a "flat" spot on the top part of the hatch where the hatch should curve along with the glass which makes for a wavy appearance in the lexan. I will have pics up ASAP in case that description doesn't make much sense.
