I was wondering if there was a difference in tail lights between the years. I want to grab lights that claim to be 03-05, but I have an 07 Z. Is there any difference?

 

They changed to LED in '06

 

But as far as the size and hook ups? Everything should be the same size?

 

03-05 Z's have an extra connection from what I have read. If you have an 03-05 Z, you can upgrade to 06-08's by taping off one of the connections on each side. If you have an 06-08 Z, you can NOT use 03-05 tail lights from everything I have read.

 

if you have an 07 with the LED tail lights, why would you even want to consider changing them out for the 03-05?

 

I'm just curious....why would you want to go from LED tails to reg. tails?
Is it the price reduction?

What do you exactly mean they have an extra connection. I have a 03 and just bought led lights. I cant seem to connect them to the car plug. The plugs are different. Do you know what i can do to have it fit.

If you bought the stock LED tails....all you only need to do is plug one connection in, the other plug connection, just tape it securely to the side so it's out of the way. That's it!

If my memory serves me right, I believe the shorter plug is not used so tape it onto the body & out of the way.

Plug and Play from 03-05 to 06-07, but not the other way around. The 03-05 can be upgraded to the later version, but the connection to "degrade" backward isn't a plug and play. You don't have the extra plug.

03-05 taillights have an extra connection for the "parking light" bulb. This bulb I'm referring to is a 168 wedge bulb.


But do NOT buy the bubble taillights. Not only do they look horrible... The fitment is off and will leave gaps all around the housing. If you want something different... buy the 06+ JDM clear tails.

 

I'll buy you those pieces of..ahem...fine craftsmanship, if you ship me your LED's. I'm SERIOUS.
