Side skirt scratched, considering Nismo side skirt replacements, but questions
Hi everyone...
I managed to scrape my drivers side side skirt. I'm interested in the Nismo side skirt replacements. Not fond of the $650 + shipping price tag, but that's another story. My understanding is that the parts do not come painted.
How do you advise/what did you do to get your parts (body kit) painted? My guess would be take it to an auto painting specialist and tell them to paint them the color of Super Black from Nissan 2003 year. Hopefully they can look up the formula for that type of "black"?
Do the side skirts come predrilled with holes for mounting?
Am I correct to say that the old side skirts come off by unscrewing a couple of screws in the wheel well area that hold it to the car, and a couple of bolts underneath the side rail of the car? In other words, after I get the parts painted, I can probably install it myself?
The Nismo replacement side skirts REPLACE the stock skirts right? I.E. I take off my stock OEM skirt, and replace it with the Nismo side skirt. I don't want something that sticks on with double sided tape and covers up my OEM side skirt and scratch. See where I'm getting?
Definition wise, the Nismo "side skirt" is that whole piece that literally sits and is everything underneath the door jambs? Wanted to make sure I have a clear picture of it because the pictures online always show them on the car. I'm interested in what they look like "off" the car.
I don't want to spend the money if it's not going to take care of that nasty scratch on the OEM side skirt.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The NISMO skirts REPLACE (i.e. you take the OEM ones off first) the OEM skirts. They are bolted on, not held with double sided tape. The REAL NISMO skirts are perfectly fitted for the 350Z.
They are white and need to be painted. Any reputable body/paint shop can get the color matched perfectly off of a computerized system like PPG.
If you change your mind and want to replace your OEM's I'll sell you mine (you'll still have to have them painted though since mine are Brickyard)
Here's a pic of the side skirt off of the car before painting.

I;ve got no basis for this other than gut feeling, but I think if you wait til they roll out the us nismo kit in october, or so, you may be able to get the pieces prepainted.
reasons:
- front is not the bumper, but a lip
- nismo is designed to be added at sales time, so they may come prepainted.
- splashguards come prepainted.

The NISMO front NOW is the entire bumper. Do you mean that it will be available in just the lip?

How about the alumnium kick plates?
Dr Bonz--
From the looks of the unpainted Nismo side skirt, it appears that I should be able to keep the aluminum kick plates. It also seems that that piece has to come off before you can access the screws that secure the side skirt to the car because it is "under" the kick plate plastic piece.
Does all of this sound correct?
