This is retarded...have you thought about personal safety first?

I understand that you want to protect your investment, especially you guys with tt builds and a ton of money dropped into them. But have you ever used a fire extinguisher? Those tiny ones that people put in their cars wont last more than 15 seconds...have you also thought about the fact that you have a fuel tank and fuel in the lines that will burn and travel? Would you rather lose your car..or all your skin? Here is a better idea...have good insurance...stay away from the car when it catches fire and protect yourself from serious harm and or death.

I worked in a burn unit for about 5 years, not pretty. I would hate to see a car go in flames but what if you had to put some one else out? I dunno, I dont think it hurts to have one. Its like having one under your sink at home... It cant really hurt. EVO is right though... better get away from that thing if its burning bad.

It would kill me more if it was something I could have stopped from getting worse. Ive already had to ditch my Z once. If it came between my life and the car, the cars done. I was getting carjacked once at a gas station. I run a bar and this was at 4am and I was still carying as I always do when I leave. I saw a car do a circle around me when I was at the pump. Im like a spider when it come to being aware of my enviorment. They made a circle and then pulled up slow from behind on my drivers side barely enough for me to open my door. There were 2 in the front seat and a 3rd guy in the rear seat about to open the door. I had my pistol in my front waist. In a split second I thought, wait it out and see what they have to say, if I see a gun dump on them or grab the keys open the door and run to the rear of thier car out of view. Well if I dont have to Im not trying to kill anyone. I would have lost the car and a whole lot more. I jump out the car get a quick glimps of the front passenger and then the rear passesnger. He had a pistol in his hand and when he saw mine he froze. I ran behind their car accross the street from the gas station, armed my car and called the cops. They got busted 2 blocks away from the scene. 2 guys in from were 21 with priors and kid in rear was 18. Made the right call.

Since most car fires are under the hood, why not have one that's built into the car...and just a switch, or pull a pin and mash to spray down the entire engine bay? seen it on drag car...and I think a cpl show cars...dunno might be overboard....but I don't want to look at a fire extinguisher every day.

The whole reason I wanted to do this is because all my electronics are sitting on my fuel assembly door which occasionally emits gas vapors. With installing the vortech kit, then a return fuel system, then have fuel pump issues, then going twin turbo; Ive been in and out of there several times. Dont think I have a factory tight seal like it should.

fuel assembly door?

I think I'd be sealing that mother up...dunno what a fuel assembly door is...but I don't like the idea of fuel vapor and electronics near each other.

I think I would feel better having one of these... Just need to figure out where to mount it. I think Porsche puts theirs in front of the drivers seat on the floor.

I was coming back home from vacation in Oregon and saw this today, keep your fire extinguisher handy or this could happen to you!

LMAO I want to see someone trying to put that out with a car fire extinguisher.

Heres some random info on a fire extinguisher system in the Army. The newest vehicle in the Army has 9 halon bottles that go off automatically and manually and shoot into the engine bay, cab, crew compartment and on the wheels and tires...its an intense setup..and kinda eerie when on mission with all those spouts aimed at your face haha. just a random piece of info.

Evo,

i see where your thinking a fire extinguisher wont help crap, with your referencing fuel lines, tank, etc......

i personally have seen quite a few fires start on cars, and 9 times out of 10, they are quick little burst of flames and people react with a small shot less than 5 seconds does the job, but of course they unload the entire fire extinguisher on their cars PREVENTING a fire like your thinking!

a car burning on the side of the road like the one pictured i would bet a million bucks the guy had no fire extinguisher and is the reason the fire turned out to be as pictured above! which of course non of these bottles will stop!

your forgetting most start small.......and if you have one handy, you prevent a catastrophe..

Do you track your car at all? do you have a reason to suspect it catching fire due to many mods and extreme conditions, ie...track, heat, electrical, FI, etc??

Here is mine, mounted behind the seats with a Brey Krause mount. I have the mount bolted to a metal strap which in turn is bolted to the (2) child safety seat latch points. I am able to grab it blind (the fire extiguisher that is ) in a jiffy:
