What to do with Shifter boot w/ aftermarket knob
I purchased a cue-ball style metallic blue anodized shifter ****, b/c my factory OEM one was worn. Now the top of the shift boot just kinda flops, and the three tabs that originally held the boot into some plastic piece that fit with the stock handle hang out.
Is there an aftermarket shift boot with a sewn top or something to make this look a little better?
Thanks,

I bought my boots from eBay seller 'the-tuning-shop-team', both of them $30 shipped (which took about 10 days from the UK). They'll make any color leather you want, use any color thread you want, and the quality is really very nice. You do have to reuse the plastic ring from you stock shift boot, but if you ask, thy may be able to sew it like the brake boot. Here are mine, in black suede:

With the shift **** installed, remove the shift boot surround so that you can invert the shift boot around the ****. You want those tabs to hang down onto the shifter itself.
Now, with a zip tie and pliers, tighten a zip tie around the boot and the shifter while holding the boot as high on the **** as you can. You want to tighten the zip tie as close to the **** as you can. Clip the excess zip tie and reinstall everything. It should look OEM. This makes a sort of rolled edge at the top of the shift boot and when you get it right, it touches the **** and looks pretty flush.

I got the shift pattern plate about a year ago from an eBay seller. Unfortunately, he's been gone for at least 6 months and the only other ones you can find are the Nismo plates. Problem with the Nismo plate is that the shift pattern is rotated 90-degrees off from mine, so you can't mount it in the same place.
The plate looks like brushed aluminum, but it's actually laser-engraved plastic. I'd almost bet a trophy shop could make a duplicate, if you pulled off that little plastic panel so they can make it the right shape. I think I paid ~$15 shipped for mine.
